News and Announcements Broadcast Depth Death of the Destroyer: Feedback Thread Re: Death of the Destroyer: Feedback Thread Max%2BOverload 0 10/28/2005 23:04
This event stunk worse than the assassin was ever supposed to have
smelled. Worthless waste of bandwidth. If you can't do any better than
this, why bother? Two trinkets of almost no use, one of which had
nothing to do with the event, was no compensation for the days of
annoying crap as we had to tolerate constant corrupted attacks.

Loot distribution for the masks was garbage.

Yeah, that sums this nicely.

Typical SOE garbage.

Beware any ReVamp, ReBuild, or Re-release from the company that turned SWG into a ghost town.

I'm one game away from being able to cancel my StationPass. I've heard
they are doing some wonderful things in City of Heros and WoW.

News and Announcements Broadcast Depth Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion Max%2BOverload 0 10/28/2005 22:54
So, yeah. For this we waited a month.

The new hyperspeed animation causes more lag, and it screws up the textures on characters. Pointless, unecessary change.

The permadark is ridiculously dark and isn't working all the time. I
have several nice shots of me in my Gargoyle suit, with the sun
overhead.

Oh, and the costumes. While neat, they decactivate Tuesday. Hours of
farming to get an item that deactivates in a few days is sick and
wrong.

Typical SOE garbage. Next time put it clearly in the patch notes that I
can get a special halloween mask, that will die right after, so I don't
waste my time.

Community General Discussion Discussion : Did They Kill The Archives? Re: Discussion : Did They Kill The Archives? Max%2BOverload 0 10/20/2005 21:21
  The trick is this...

Teamwork and strategy. With a little teamwork in Sakura while acquiring bandana's, my three man team developed the strategies
that we have since employed in Widow's Moor. By L42, I was able to solo
Gargoyle. With a three man team, we could kill him so fast it was
better xp than missions.

I have no problem whatsoever with the difficulty of the bosses. It's
just dicey enough one on one to keep it from becoming boring. It's a
challenge. If I misjudge my situation, or push my luck. I'm respawning
and running back to an Archivist. If I plan carefully and use my
abilities wisely, I get a kill. If I employ a steady, well operated
team, I can kill the bosses quickly and efficiently, but I must share
the spoils.

All that aside, the loot drop is way too rare. We ended up with one
bandana from Sakura, one pair of Lenses from Widow's Moor (Female) and
no desire to go the L50 archive.

News and Announcements Broadcast Depth Death of the Destroyer: Feedback Thread Re: Death of the Destroyer: Feedback Thread Max%2BOverload 0 10/03/2005 11:46
This three day long event was interesting.

Corrupted

Spawning at player level was great. Except when they were left behind
to kill newbies. My patcher and I took on more L44-49 Corrupted than I
care to thnk about. The Corrupted should have timed out after awhile,
as the second problem (the first being newbie ganking), was there
tendency to find all the spots to get hung up and spike Server lag.

Decaying Code

This stuff was great. If had been stackable and tradable, it could have
plagued the matrix forever. PvP players would gravitate towards the
edge, whatever the risk. But without stacking we could only squirrel
away so much of it.

Decaying Code Fragments

Random, hard to piece together, boring, boring and boring. Those with
the strongest chance of sorting it out were the players who already
knew where the old haunts where anyway, who really didn't need the
fragments to go there.

Critical Missions

Were a great idea. Except they had nothing to do with the event
whatsoever. It's not like these require a great deal of real coding.
They should have been themed to sorting out the Assassin plot. Ya, know
use the critical missions to reveal the info, not just have Flood bark
it to us in system broadcast.

*Use a Mission Widget on Corrupt remains.

*Find out who attacked Ookami

*Get Insecticide

*Get Flit Gun

*Attack the Assassin (who splits and runs away, oh my, we still get to the live event!)

Live Event

The servers couldn't handle the load. People crashed and lagged so bad
they couldn't participate. Many others couldn't participate because of
a bug that prevented them from getting a Flit Gun. The most seriously
aggrieved are those who didn't want to participate, but couldn't play
the game because of the severe game-wide lag and constant attacks.

The Reward

The Fly in Amber will appease some, except those who will be robbed of
their reward again by a critical mission bug. Of course, the Masks are
vastly overpowered but in limited enough numbers that they will decay,
disappear, and be avoidable.

The Mobius Code is also neat, but won't be winning many battles. I use it to avoid having to rest as long after...whatever.

I normally wouldn't get behind this, but we all had to play through
days of Corrupt spawns disrupting the flow of the game and messing up
business as usual. The Decaying Code was a neat idea, but since it
didn't stack there was limited amounts that could be collected.

My wife never did manage to even get the Flit Gun critical to show up
so, she can't even hang on to her Flit Gun as a Souvenir. I'd like more
of a reward for participating in a three day event than a Orgasm
animation.

Development Discussion Update Discussion Update 36 Discussion Re: Update 36 Discussion Max%2BOverload 0 09/29/2005 01:51
The random Corrupted spawns need some tweaking as well. Running around
tonight, I've seen entirely too many spawned at level 43-48. When they
are dropping and being ignored or missed by the person that they
spawned on, they hang around and gank low level players.

Since they seem to spawn when people stand around, they also have a habit of appearing around hardlines.

Coming out of a HL in richland and getting ganked by two L48 npcs is not fun.

My Patcher and I must have swept at least 5 in one area while running
missions, and there were no players over L43 around that I could see.

They need to time out after awhile. If they already timeout, they need to timeout faster.

Just read the information available about the acquisition. It was part
of a deal for them two get to make and manage two other WB license
games. They just need to float Matrix Online long enough to seal those
others.

Sony doesn't want this game and it's evidenced by the lack of support
or concern. Flagrant exploiters are reported on a daily basis without
being banned and SOE support basically gives you the run around about
problem until you solve it yourself or give up in frustration.

I've seen a buddy lose 20million info, rebuilding and leveling his
Arbelest mutiple times and when he logged back in, it would be gone
again. No explanation, no help whatsoever from SOE. They won't even
acknowledge he had a problem, or that he ever told them.

I experienced how good their support can be in the early days of SWG.
You could get a live response, with an in-game CSR fast enough to fix
problems in mid-pvp fights. The problems here are lack of concern.

  Let's all load into Recursion!

Community General Discussion ETA for Syntax Restart? ETA for Syntax Restart? Max%2BOverload 0 09/02/2005 18:20
Ya, I know they'll post it if they bloody well feel like it, but I'll get in here and bug them first.

When we be able to get back online?

Community General Discussion Thanks team.. Re: Thanks team.. Max%2BOverload 0 09/02/2005 18:13
The devs heard too many complaints about how quickly everyone was going
through the new "content" so they decided to "extend" most groups
timetable for completing it.

Couple of creative plug pulls and it'll actually take some people all weekend to complete.

Community General Discussion Why is Syntax Down? Re: Why is Syntax Down? Max%2BOverload 0 09/02/2005 18:09
  I got in a solid 4 minutes.

Oh, well. At least it's good to know that SOE doesn't give credit for
excessive and extended server downtimes. Let's just pray they aren't
all off for the weekend. Then again, if they'd taken the weekend off,
we might all still be playing.

Development Discussion Update Discussion Update 34 Feedback Thread - Post-Update Feedback Re: Update 34 Feedback Thread - Post-Update Feedback Max%2BOverload 0 09/02/2005 18:02
  That upgrade frankly sucks.

I'm not level 35+ so I won't be seeing the Pandora's Box stuff, but I
can say that as a primary Coder for my group of friends I'm greatly
displeased with the...

Stealth Nerfs.

Less xp for coders. Less code bits for breaking down some of these
least desirable loots in the game (Health Pills, Boosters, and
Antibiotics).

And now... Shutting down the Servers on Friday frickin night of Labor Day weekend.

After the excessive downtime on patch day, I hope this isn't a forecast
of how the weekend and SOE's management of Matrix Online will be be
going.

This is why I try to restrain myself from joining in the 15 pages of pre-patch exuberance about how great it is.

This, right now, is how great it is. I mean, am I to expect the update
to work right if they can't manage to pull off just putting on the
servers for us to download.

On the positive side though, if it delivers what it promises I'll be pleased to see it.

Maybe now they can work on that backlog of cheater and exploiter reports they've been ignoring.

Development Discussion Update Discussion Update 34 Feedback Thread - Pre-Update Thread Re: Update 34 Feedback Thread Max%2BOverload 0 09/01/2005 10:16
Well, this is the kind of Updates and customer support I've come to expect from SOE.

By that of course I'm refering to the fact that I can't get online. I'm
assuming this infinite client mismatch problem is SOE's idea of an
update.

Ya know, reduce lag by keeping anyone from logging in.
