The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion True Blood Season Finale True Blood Season Finale Atem 0 11/24/2008 04:17

For anyone who's watched it, what do you think?  This is probably the best TV show since Sopranos went off the air, intriguing storyline, but maybe not as tastefully done as Sopranos or Six Feet Under, but right up there.  Maybe with the actors delving more into their characters and gaining confidence with time, we'll be able to see better performances.  Most people I know who have watched an episode are getting hooked on the show.  I think the setting in the rural deep south is perfect, louisiana is known to be kind of off beat and full of mysticism.  If it took place in New York, San Francisco, or a big metropolitian city, the show just wouldn't have had that charm and would've fallen into the trappings of lame vampire cliches.

###Spoilers for those who haven't seen the finale###

So who do you think was in Andy's car?  Was it the dead body of Lafayette?  Do you think Lafayette was the one drained by Bill?  I'd hate to think they killed off Lafayette, the character was hilarious and a bright spot among all the serious faces.  Maybe Bill felt guilty afterwards, feeding on a friend of Sookie's and turned Lafayette into a vampire?  That way he can help Bill put that new whiny vampire chick in check.

And why do you think Sam is emptying his safe?  Running from Mary Ann?  Who is the lady helping Tara?  Is she a shape shifter as well?  I think she might be either a shape shifter who is a former lover or relative of Sam's or maybe a witch?

I was surprised the killer turned out to be Renae.  I didn't suspect him until seeing the fax at the end of the 11th episode, but thought the clue was too obvious, and figured he was in town hunting down the killer of his sister, taking a fake identity to find out who the killer was.

I'm a bit disappointed in seeing Jason Stackhouse becoming a born again evangelist, I thought they could have made him into a hippie or something more edgy.

If you've read the novel, please refrain from posting spoilers, thanks.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion Imminent attack on Iran Imminent attack on Iran Atem 0 04/01/2008 03:27
Complete media blackout.  Why is the media failing to report of an imminent attack on Iran?  Red flags are raised, the alarm bells are ringing.
First, we have *CENSORED* Cheney making the rounds in the Middle East, in the guise of rallying peace in the region.  The trip serves one purpose, to assess the support of US allies in the region.  McCain has even toured the region recently, rallying up support for the war cause.  Bush made the visit earlier this year.
Admiral Fallon has resigned his post as head of Cent Com.  Fallon has been outspoken in his views against an attack on Iran.  He has either resigned in protest, knowing the imminent attack is unavoidable, or pushed out by the administration to clear all obstacles.
Chief of Russia's general staff, Yuri Baluyevsky, said last November that Russia was beefing up it's military in response to US aggression.  Russian Colonel General Leonid Ivashov has said that the Pentagon is planning a massive air strike on Iran.
Saudi Arabia, after Cheney's visit, has begun preparing national plans to deal with nuclear and radioactive hazards in the aftermath of a perceived US attack on Iran's Bushehr reactor.
The recent crackdown on Shiite militas by the US backed Iraqi leadership under Maliki seems to aim at crushing factions that Iran might support to cause chaos for US troops in Iraq after the attack on Iran.
Seymour Hersh is one of the few journalist that has exposed the ongoing planning by the Bush Administration, Neocons, and Pentagon of drawing up war plans for Iran.
The tolls from the Iraq War is already 4,000 brave US soldiers dead, tens of thousands wounded, and probably hundreds of thousands having serious health problems in the years to come from exposure to depleted uranium.  An estimated 1 million Iraqi deaths are attributed to the War.  If war breaks out with Iran, expect a high increase in US casualty, and high collateral damage, unimaginable civilian carnage.
What should the sleeping citizens of America do?  Demand impeachment hearings of Bush and Cheney from your local Congressman.  If impeached, hand them over to the Nuremberg Courts.  Of course this will never be allowed.  Pay our troops real wages, stop giving it to private military contractors with six figure salaries, give that money to our troops as bonuses.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion The Surge, Mild Economic Depression, Election in 2008 The Surge, Mild Economic Depression, Election in 2008 Atem 0 03/26/2008 21:39
Okay, so I got a response from a senior Mod, and told me he didn't know why this thread was removed, there wasn't enough cause in his view and he sent me a PM with my original post to repost it.  The only reason I'm reposting is because I believe individual views should not be infringed upon, healthy debate and discussions are important to a progressive society.  While the majority of the replies were civil, a few were on the verge of flame baiting.  Please, let's keep the name calling to a minimum.  Heated arguments are great, but don't attack the integrity of the individual, attack his argument.

Hi everyone, a little rant by me.

This is going to be a turbulent year for the good ole US of A, effectively having a ripple effect throughout much of the world.  Issues I would like to address is the souring economy, the Surge in Iraq and the farce of the 2008 Presidential Election.

The warning signs have been present for the last few years.  I’ve been saying since 2005 when crude oil was around $50-60 that within a couple of years it might skyrocket to $120.  Everyone thought those figures were extremely high, since crude was at an all time high at around $50 and seen to be at its peak.  Don’t be surprised to see crude reach $200 by 2010, especially if there’s another major conflict in the Middle East, or China and India increases their demand exponentially.  But crude could also very likely begin to drop to a more reasonable $70-80 a barrel by the end of 2008, start of 2009.  I’m more worried about the potential spikes.

Eventually, I believe crude oil is going to be very cheap within 1-2 decades.  As alternative energy goes from development to being introduced on the market, demand should start to decrease, especially in the US.  The hope is for China and India to follow suit and after stabilizing their economies and growth, begin to promote either alternative energy or nuclear energy.  While the world will still use crude oil in some forms of energy production during the next 50-100 yrs, demand should decrease within the next decade or two, causing a dramatic decline in the price.

I’m beginning to see why OPEC countries, in partnership with the oil consortium companies, are refusing to increase oil production to alleviate the high crude prices.  They realize oil’s use as a form of energy is in its final stages, and the commodity won’t be seen as valuable in the near future.  These countries and companies are trying to squeeze out every dollar they can, manipulating the price of oil, blaming it on a weak dollar and the increase in demand from China and India.  Look at the huge profits being raked in by consortiums like Unocal, BP, Shell, and Exxon.  Best way to describe it is if someone sees the end coming, and they’re trying to make as much as they can and cash out before the bubble goes bust.

Oil price is completely manipulated, just like diamonds.  De Beers controls 2/3 of the diamond cartel in the world, and the extortionate price of diamonds is completely artificial because of the controlled quantity produced annually.  If diamonds were mined on a large scale, they would still be valuable, just not extortionately expensive, and deterring the incentive of rogue countries/rebels to force people to mine for Blood Diamonds in order to maintain their power.  The production of Oil is controlled by OPEC, the only competitor might be Russia, but they barely make a dent.  Prices are artificial just like diamonds.

The rise in Crude Oil has been partially responsible for the rapid rise in real consumer goods prices, rapid inflation is a real danger over the next couple of years.  Inflation devalues individual savings, and also reduces real wages.  Do you think companies, in a recession, are going to generously give their employees pay raises to keep up with inflation?  What about the gov’t increasing Social Security to keep up with inflation?  Real income is actually going to go down over the next couple of years.

Still boggles my mind how the Bush Administration is still in denial of a recession in the US.  Why is the media even still debating if we’re in a recession while most financial analyst realize we are in a recession?

Forget about the recession, we should be worried about a looming Depression at the end of this summer.  Gas prices at the pump is at $3.70-$3.80 in the San Francisco Area.  Many analyst are projecting a target price of $4 when the peak summer driving season hits, and that’s a national average of $4, which means people in SF are going to be hit up for $4.50-$4.70 a gallon!  Still don’t believe a Depression is looming?  What did the FED just do?  They pumped over $200 billion into the housing mess.  Yeah, I wonder where they’ll get the $200 billion.  Normally when the FED bails out an industry or gov’t spending, they print more money out of thin air.  Since the FED dollar is a fiat based currency, backed by absolutely nothing, the FED can print as much funny money as they’d like and devalue the dollar even further.  What happens when the dollar plummets even further?  Crude Oil prices rise.  People need to realize that there’s a correlation between rising oil prices as the dollar slides.  While the euro rises against the dollar, and oil prices rise, it’s funny how prices at the pump haven’t risen as much exponentially in Europe as it has in the US over the past few years.

The US has been able to maintain a huge debt, and incur a big annual deficit since the Reagan years without defaulting on our loans.  How?  Look up the Petro Dollar.  It pretty much explains why countries around the world are forced to buy up huge reserves in US FED dollar, and actually buy US Bonds to support our debt.  It’s not because the US dollar is a stable currency, but the fact that countries have to buy the dollar in order to purchase oil from OPEC.  During the Nixon administration in the early 1970s, there was an agreement reached with OPEC nations, they would only accept US currency when they sold their oil on the market.  The only two oil bourse markets in the world until recently were in New York and London, and they only accept US dollar for trading.  The dollar was kept strong because countries were forced to buy into it in order to purchase oil, and US defaults on loans were avoided because countries were buying up US bonds (debt).  I don’t even want to get into how the FED operates, it’ll take the length of a graduate thesis to explain that.

The US has delayed this looming crisis over the years, we’ve seen a couple bubbles go bust, the Tech Bubble of 2000-2001, and now the Housing Bubble.  In 2005, I’ve warned of a stagnate housing market for ’06.  In the summer of 2006, I warned about a little something called the looming Sub Prime Mortgage Crisis, although I didn’t know much about it myself except for the few financial reports that was available.  The foreclosures these next couple of years is going to drastically shape the psyche of the US population, people are going to feel defeated seeing the banks take their homes away, and for the most part not to a fault of their own but because of the greed from mortgage lenders.  Giving home loans to unqualified borrowers, repackaging it for wholesale, making their commissions, and now the banks are extortionately raising the interest rate on some of the current sub prime borrowers, knowing some will still be able to pay until they foreclose themselves.  The mortgage firms are just trying to make as much of the worthless greenback before the whole housing market collapses and people begin to hand their property back to the banks.  Again, a…. Mild Depression in late ’08.

The Surge in Iraq.  Success?  A complete FAILURE!  Let’s look at the intentions and goals of the Surge laid out by the Bush Administration.

-Temporary increase in combat troops.

-Stabilize the country.

-Begin withdrawal of troops to pre Surge level.

-With stability, start the process of reducing the troop levels incrementally.

Amazing how McCain and Bush are hailing the Surge as a success when the initial goals have not been close to being remotely reached.  Even more amazing is how the Democrats (Peace Party?) has refused to attack this glaring indiscrepency.  Has the troop numbers been decreased to Pre Surge levels?  No.  Has there been a decrease in US combat casualties and civilian casualties?  Yes.  Is the current violence in Iraq less than under Saddam Hussein’s regime or during the first year of the War?  No.  Is Iraq close to being stabilized?  Not even close.

A better term to replace the Surge would be Escalation.  Just like in Vietnam, at the start of the Iraq war this was only suppose to be temporary.  Just like in Vietnam, we’ve divided the country into two… wait, three zones (Sunni, Shiite, Kurds).  Remember how the Johnson administration and the US media was spewing the positive progress in Vietnam in 1967?  Remember what happened in 1968?  A little military campaign called the Tet Offensive, which signaled our doom in that war.  I know many have dismissed the Vietnam comparisons, but just because this is a different terrain doesn’t mean the same fundamental tactics can’t be used against us by our enemies.

Currently, the Administration is patting themselves on the back, trumpeting the success of the Surge, and the so called “Awakening” of the Sunni Muslims in Iraq.  The plan laid out by the Saddam/Baathist gov’t before the US Invasion was to prolong the conflict, fighting an unconventional war, and win by attrition.  Does this sound familiar to Vietnam?  Bush/Neocons are convinced the country is stabilized since the “Awakening” of the Sunnis, and their willingness to help the US forces in going after Al Qaeda in Iraq.  Al Qaeda in Iraq was welcomed and partially funded by the Baathist insurgents to distract the US forces.  We’re now currently training and arming the Sunnis.  The Baathist insurgents since the first days of the Invasion have infiltrated and become embedded among the Shiite leadership, including Al Sadr’s militia.  The Sunnis are not going to work in any sort of coalition gov’t with an Iranian backed Shiite leadership, this is a façade the Sunnis are putting on. The situation in Iraq is probably going to explode by this Summer.  Imagine if the US had armed and trained the Viet Cons before the Tet Offensive.

Things might get extremely worse if the Bush Administration attacks Iran.  Provocation with Iran seems almost inevitable, the Neocons have hungered for war with the Persians.  There’s been reports of many senior Generals and Admirals threatening to resign if this Administration goes to war with Iran.  The Pentagon was formerly divided under Rumsfeld, with civilian war hawks arguing and belittling Generals and Admirals for their more sensible approach to war.  Gates may have temporarily stabilized the situation in the Pentagon, but as war approaches with Iran, there will be dissent among the Generals and Admirals, and we may launch another War without the brains to plan the logistics.  Recently, the resignation of Admiral Fallon is a disturbing sign that war is very near.  Either Fallon resigned in protest knowing the Administration is planning to launch strikes in Spring or Summer, or he’s being forced out by the Administration and replaced with someone who is more willing to be a parrot for the Administration as it finalizes its war plans.

Since the trend of conservative gov’t coming to power in Europe, like France and Germany, the likelihood of broad based European support for a US lead attack on Iran is likely.  In essence, I still believe most European governments openly criticize the US for the World to see, but the US is fighting a war for the stabilization of oil that Europe needs more than the US.  Does Europe have oil reserves?  The US has recently discovered a reserve encompassing North Dakota, Montana, and S Dakota would could increase the domestic reserves by up to 10x.  The US may just be the muscle for “Western” colonialism, but in the guise of American aggression, of course no facts to back this claim up, just an opinion.

We have to go back to the Petro Dollar in order to understand why Iran is a target.  Until 2002, the US Dollar was the sole currency used in trading for Crude Oil.  Iraq began selling some of its oil for Euros in 2002.  Next year, it was invaded.  The Gulf Arab OPEC nations have discussed the possibility of taking other forms of currency as payment for their oil.  Iran has opened a new oil bourse market this year, which has been in the planning for many years now, and is accepting other forms of currency other than the US Dollar as payment.  If we attack, imagine the instability it will cause across the whole Middle East, and the ripple effect around the world as the Strait of Hormuz is blocked and Mid East oil is unable to easily reach the world.

The 2008 US Presidential Election.  Our choices:  John McCain (Manchurian Candidate), Hillary Clinton (prolific liar, power hungry, and a criminal), Barack Obama (a disturbing support from his Cult of Personality).  McCain would be a third Bush term, even advocating 100 years of troop presence in Iraq.  People should realize that Obama and Cllinton aren’t the Peace candidates either.  Though they are criticizing the current policy in Iraq, they both realize that there’s been huge military bases built in that country with the full intention of being permanent.  The US Embassy in Baghdad will be the largest embassy in the world.  Obama and Clinton have advocated actions be taken against Iran.  Obama has sought a continuation of the War on Terrorism to Pakistan and increased presence in Afghanistan.

As we’ve seen lately, both Obama and Clinton offer plenty of rhetoric, no substance.  They engage in smearing each other’s credentials with personal attacks, not talking about the issues affecting our country, no solutions being offered, or stating any platform to run on.  Obama and Clinton may try to reach out to the blue collar workers and Ohio and Pennsylvania, “understanding” their difficulties and struggles, promising to do as much as they can to help relieve their problems when they get into the White House, but neither has told what solutions they have to rectify what’s plaguing America.  Obama and Universal Health Care?  How?  Clinton as her medical plan to have everyone covered, how?  She wants to force everyone to buy medical insurance, and penalize those that don’t by deducting from their taxes.  How about offering Federal medical coverage for those in need and can’t buy medical insurance?  Clinton is vague with her health care plan only stating it would cost over $110 billion, no explanations for the cost, not even having a working paper to present.  We’re suppose to blindly believe in the promises Obama, Clinton and McCain offer.  More broken promises.

Real choice is taken away from the population, we have been given hand picked candidates to choose from, none of them offering real change, just the same old rhetoric politicians use to get elected.  Why isn’t there a 3rd party in the US political system?  Hell, why isn’t there a 2nd party?  The US is ruled by a 1 party system, with 2 competing factions.  It is not a democracy, but a polyarchy.  Because of the horrendous acts of a bunch of brainwashed religious zealots on September 11th, 2001, the US Empire is once again able to use a catastrophic event as an excuse to expand, the New Pearl Harbor of the 21st Century.

Let's pitch some ideas to the DEVs before everything becomes formalized.

My ideas:
Have a new concept different from last years.  1st yr was the Sleepwalkers, 2nd year was the Smith Virus.  How about something that ties to the Intruder, but doesn't have to affect the official storyline like last yrs, or better yet it does affect the storyline.
-the spawns could be Intruder clones, lvl specific to who they're being spawned on.
-Reward items could be an Accelerated Pill, having buffs similar to the Smith Pill.
-Oracle Anniversary cookies could be an option again
-I don't think the Shirts with the same words from the 2nd Anniversary should be a reward option this yr, it was special for the 2nd Anniversary, just like how the Blue Sky gear and Security Gear was specific for the 1st Anniversary and was never given out again.
-Rarebit and 9mmfu could jack in as the 2 Intruders, Halborn and Carlyne.
-Maybe a mission with a reward, like the 1st Anniversary where a mission was available for 1 of the Security Gear.  Or maybe just a fun Critical Mission for the Anniversary.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Neighborhood Contact Mission update Neighborhood Contact Mission update Atem 0 11/14/2007 05:32
I've been waiting 2 1/2 years for some sort of update on the neighborhood contact missions.  This could be one of the most enjoyable parts of the game.  Many players haven't done the missions, i think because there's no real incentive, it's easier to grind with org missions.  I think the storyline for these contacts are great.  So here's some suggestions for revamping the Neighborhood Contact Missions:

-Add a reward system for completing a set from one of the Neighborhood Contacts.  This could be clothes or weapons.  The buffs and use of the reward could have a minimum lvl required, depending on the Contacts neighborhood.  For example, Richland rewards would be for min lvl 2-15, buffs with resistance at like +3-10 or so.  Downtown would have min lvl requirements for the rewards 25-50 or so, resistance +18-33 or so.

-Wondering if the Neighborhood Contact Missions should have the lvl of NPCs set for that particular neighborhood? Not dependent on the lvl of the player, much like Pandora Box missions.

-The clothing for the rewards should look unique, if possible design features that can be linked in a way with the Contact or the missions.  Be kinda nice having a Jackson Pollack like print for a shirt given by the Sculptress.

-First, I think the old Contact Missions would be reset, so everyone would be able to run them again for the new rewards introduced.

-There should be a second set of 5 storyline missions and another reward for each Contact after the original five missions are completed.

-There could be new Contacts introduced every couple weeks or a month, with a set of missions and reward.

This should keep most people busy while waiting for new critical missions to come out.

Any suggestions to add anything else to the Contact Missions?  Opinions?

Syntax Next Renaissance - Syntax A Murder in Westview -- A New Hardboiled Detective Series A Murder in Westview -- A New Hardboiled Detective Series Atem 0 08/13/2007 17:10
Ray Bannister was finishing up his day at the office, filing away legal documents for a pre-trial hearing.  The case was taken by his employers two weeks prior.  Bannister has been interning as a para legal the past year for Cromwell & Ellis LLC, a position set up for him by his professor at Mega City University of Law.  Bannister is finishing up his third and final year, working as an intern twice a week on average.  To make extra money in his spare time, he's been moonlighting as a private investigator.

As Ray finished filing the last stack of documents, he took a deep breath and quickly pulled the left sleeve of his shirt to check the time on his watch.  It was half past five, and Bannister has a meeting with a client in 15 minutes.  Ray grabbed his coat, and began walking quickly out of the office, through the hall and towards the rotating glass doors.

"Have a good evening Mr. Bannister," the security guard gave Bannister a nod.

"Goodnight Charlie."

Bannister made his way across the plaza, when reaching the curb he began waving a hand to hail down a cab.  Immediately, a taxi stopped in front of him.  After jumping into the backseat of the cab he asked the driver, "Can you get me to the coffee shop at Mara in 15 minutes?"

"Traffic's pretty bad this time of day, but I might be able to take a few side streets to avoid the congestion, hop on the expressway and maybe we'll get you there."

The congestion was bad throughout the Center Park neighborhood of Downtown, bumper to bumper traffic, cabs blowing their horns.  The driver was able to navigate through most of the congestion taking side streets and driving along alleyways.  Eventually he got to the toll at Reeves Bridge, dropped a few coins, and slammed on the gas, blazing across the bridge into Richland District.  When the cab had reached the Mara neighborhood, the driver let up on the brakes a bit, and cruised for the next minute, finally stopping in front of a coffee shop.

The driver reached over and pressed the red button to stop the meter.  "Well, we made it with 3 minutes to spare.  That'll be twenty one bucks mister, and maybe a little extra for my troubles," the driver said with a grin.

Bannister pulled out two bills from his wallet, a twenty and a ten, and handed both to the driver.  He got out, shut the door, and walked into the coffee shop.  After looking around at the different patrons, he made his way to the counter and sat next to a well dressed gentleman, silver straight hair, well manicured hands, jet black suit and black dress shoes so brightly polished someone could see their own reflection if they stared at them.

"Mr. Albright?"

"Yes, and I presume you are Bannister."

"At your service," Ray replied with a forced smile.  "How can I help you?"

"I need you to follow someone for me, tell me who she's been in contact with, follow her daily activities.  Her name, residence, and a photograph of her is inside this envelop."  Albright slide a brown paper 8X10 envelop across the counter to Bannister.

"Think your wife is cheating on you huh?"

Albright began tapping his fingers on the counter.  "Wife? Umm.  Yeah, ex wife that is.  Just get me some dirt on her and don't ask too many question.  I've left a generous deposit in the envelop as well, it should cover all expenses and then some.  You'll get the rest of the payment after the job's completed."  Albright got off the stool and walked out of the coffee shop.

Around ten o'clock the same evening Bannister ended up in the Westview District, walking down a street with dilapidated buildings.  Trash was littered everywhere. Winos either huddling around a fire can in the alleyways, the bottle of cheap wine passed from hand to hand, each taking his little snort, or some others passed out for the night on bus benches, blankets wrapped around tightly.  Bannister finally stopped in front of Showgirls Gentlemen's Club.  He walked up to the door, where a well muscled black man was sitting on a stool.  His arms were the size of most men's thighs.  The behemoths face was like a pit bull with a 5 o'clock shadow.  There was a scar over on his left eyebrow, and the bridge of his nose was slightly crooked with a lump.

"How ya doing Ray my man!"

"Hey champ.  Busy night?"  Every time Bannister referred to the bouncer as champ, the big guy's face would brighten up instantly, a smile from cheek to cheek.  Early on in his professional boxing career, Tiger Walcott was a top heavyweight contender.  Walcott never got his shot at the heavyweight crown, and during the last few years his career is fading, heading into a downward spiral with the losses piling on more frequently.  But his face still lights up when someone calls him champ.

"Naw, not too busy boss.  Kinda slow, but the gals are still busting their cute little tushes on stage, trying to hustle for that dollar."

"Is Diamond dancing tonight?"

"Yeah, she's around tonight.  Want me to head down and call her to your table?"  Walcott gave Bannister a wink.

Shaking his head, "I'll just get a drink first and wait until she gets up on stage."

Walcott nodded, placed his enormous hand on the red entrance door, pushed it open and held it there until Bannister made his way in.  Ray saw a familiar dancer on stage who looked his way as he entered, gave her a wink and a wave, and made his way to his regular table.  The table was away from the stage, the black sofa placed against the wall.  While waiting for the waitress to come around and take his order, a blond had caught his eye.  She was making her rounds, flirting with men after men to sway them into buying a private dance.  After seeing how low she was behaving with one customer, jumping on his lap, giving him kisses on both his cheeks, all to persuade him into buying a dance, Ray lost all interest in the blond.

Time passed, the empty glasses that held whiskey at one time were now cluttered around his table.  As Bannister looked up on the stage with blurry eyes, he saw Diamond climbing up the few steps to the stage.  Ray couldn't take his eyes off of her.  He began to loosen his tie and undo the top button on his neck.  She had long jet black hair, plump lips colored with dark red lipstick, heavy eyeliner, green tint on her eyelids, a flat stomach, curvy hips, and long silky legs.  The tattoo of a spider on her left lower front hip, and the black rose on the back of her right shoulder nailed it for him.  This woman was just dangerous.  She could rip a guy's heart out, throw it on the ground and pierce her high heels through it without flinching in front of the poor sucker.  And Bannister wanted that poor sucker to be him for a night, a week, or even for an infinite second.

As her music faded, she began to gather the dollar bills thrown onto the stage, walking by all the men in the front row, thanking them each with a deadly smile.  Diamond gathered her clothes, put on her black lace bra, and walked off the stage.  She was headed toward Bannister.  Upon arriving at Bannister's table, she bent over and gave him a kiss on his cheek.

"Hi Ray, been a couple months since I've seen you around."

"Been busy, juggling classes at law school, interning at a firm and got some work on the side for pocket change," replied Bannister while loosening his tie some more.

"Busy boy.  So, some of that pocket change coming my way?"  Diamond sat down on the sofa beside Ray, leaning against his shoulder.

"Uh..."

"I'm just messing with ya sugar," Diamond said with a grin.  "I wanted to talk to you about something though.  I know you mentioned before how you're some sort of private eye or something.  I need some help Ray.  I've gotten myself into a jam, and in the worst way.  I want to hire you Ray."

"And pay me with what?  Lap dances?"

Diamond's upper lip tightened, and gave him a scornful look.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.  I was just joking, being an idiot."  Bannister looked embarrassed, and reached out to hold her hand.  "What's the matter?  I'll do whatever I can to help."

"Not here Ray.  Let's blow this dump and go somewhere to talk.  Let me go to the back and change.  Also need to get something in my car, then I'll come back around and fetch you to leave."  She gave him another kiss on the cheek, got up and started walking back to the dresser room.

Twenty minutes had passed since Diamond had left to change.  Bannister was constantly moving his head to the side to get a look at the dressing room door, anticipating Diamond to come out of it whenever it opened.

The cops came instead.  Sirens began blazing outside the club.  Five police officers bursted into the club and began shouting at the dancers and customers to stay calm and seated.  They began asking everyone questions about Diamond.

Bannister knew one of the cops, Sgt. Lorenzo.  Lorenzo would help out Bannister with his cases, for a small fee, pulling up records on individuals, missing person reports.

"Hey buddy, what's going on?  Why are your people asking about the dancer?" asked Bannister.

"She's dead.  Someone killed her in the alley by the parking lot.  Know her?  Speak with her tonight or get a dance from her?

Bannister gave a full detailed account from the moment he stepped through the door into the club until to the moment the police had arrived.

"She needed help huh?  Better come out back with me."

Bannister and Sgt Lorenzo made their way out of the club, passing the paying customers and dancers who were being questioned by the cops, and finally making it to the alleyway.  There was a white sheet placed over a body laying on the ground.  The area was cordoned off with yellow tap at the two ends of the alley.

"Her name was Samantha Monroe," said Lorenzo.

There was a loud screech from the brakes of a car at the end of the alley.  A black Suburban SUV had parked in front of the entrance to the alleyway.  Both the passenger and driver door opened simultaneously, and two men got out and began walking toward Bannister and Lorenzo.  The two men were both dressed in a black suit, black tie white shirt and wore dark sunglasses.

"This is my partner, Agent Brown.  I'm Agent Jones.  We've received orders to take the lead in this murder investigation.  Vacate the premises and have your men seal off all entry to this alley."  Agent Jones pointed Bannister and Lorenzo to the end of the alley.

"Now wait a minute, what authority..."

Sgt Lorenzo cut off Bannister, "Yes sir.  I'll have my men seal off the area."

Agent Brown reached up to the side of his head, adjusting his earpiece.  Agent Brown turned to Agent Jones, informing him "Target is still active within the system."

Walking down the alley, Bannister turned to Lorenzo and asked "Who's the suits?  Are they both Feds?"

"Don't really know.  I see their type from time to time, and if you don't move out of their way, you'll usually have a higher up chewing your butt out over the phone within minutes.  I've learned to stay out of their way and do as they say."

(I'm going to have this as an Open RP for all, feel free to add as you like, create a side story to it, whether it be some bluepill/redpill seeking the help of Bannister to solve a case, or maybe a side story with a character, or maybe just a detective story completely your own.  More will come)
Development Discussion Development Roundtable Change buffs 4 Construct/Hideout Boss drops Change buffs 4 Construct/Hideout Boss drops Atem 0 03/25/2007 17:17
One part of the game that use to be worth it was going through a hideouts/dungeons with a team of players, fighting till the end to reach a Boss.  It's something to do besides missioning.  Now, there's no incentive because the buffs on most of the hideout items are useless.  Now, there should be a penalty for people being brought into those areas by a higher lvl without running the gaunlet through the hideout, say the system area would recognize that sort of action and would only allow the lowest form of Boss drop.  What's so special about them?  Add at least 3 types of resistance to them, like an enhanced clothing item.  Same goes for the neighborhood collectors.
Another thing is the Construct drops, where a widow's moore cap is almost the same as having a Sakura Bandana.  Make the Sakura Bandana, Widow's Moore Lense have all 4 types of resistance along with the health and IS regen.  Also, give a 1-2% bonus on the health and IS regen, just so those will be put into effect.  And maybe 1-2% bonuses on things like Initiative or Determination, etc, things we normally wouldn't have in effect with just loading our ability tree.
Finally, just an idea.  Add some sort of unique looking buffed clothing to the Neighborhood Exile Mission Contacts.  As a reward for finishing all of their missions, the player will receive a nice gift.
Anyone else have any other ideas to add?
