Gameplay Discussion Character Development Archive Missions Re:Archive Missions Flint 0 04/19/2009 17:57

They're interesting, but I'm trying to complete all three orgs archive missions so I can get the special effects from the collectors. It's good to see the story from three different perspectives, but the difficulty is getting considerably ramped up by putting me in more hostile neighborhoods with tougher enemies and such.

I like seeing the different parts of the story, but missioning can get quite stressful under these conditions and it's hard to get on with the flow unless I'm very close to a gaining a new level and I want to finish it right away.

Is using Archive Missions a good way to level?

It seems quite slow to me, as it takes quite a few individual missions to level. Would it be better to take the standard missions (fast length and hard difficulty) from your organizations contact? I haven't got a chance to compare XP gain.

So you mean to tell me that the 12 people standing at Mara C is the 'playerbase'... and the two people messing around in PvP mode is the 'end-game'... oi...

Now I'm really wondering if it's worth the grind of getting to 50... spending my lifetime sitting on a park bench. I figured the 40-50 construct was populated with fighters.

Where is most of the PvP found on Syntax? In the Constructs?

Community General Discussion Coming back to play again... Coming back to play again... Flint 0 04/11/2009 12:27

I'm coming back to try out the game again. I've heard Rarebit left (hopefully they're going to supply a new Dev and not kill the game entirely), though I do miss the subject matter and atmosphere that this game presented. I also don't know of many other MMO's that incorporate Martial Arts in the way that this one presents itself.

I couldn't get very far the last time I tried the game out a few years ago. I was playing on a very old computer and was having loading problems the whole time. I do think I made it to the 20-30 level range before giving up, though. The interiors in the buildings weren't so bad for playing on that old rig, but the outside murdered me.

I've completely forgotten how to play, and most of the guides I've read are pretty out-dated.

If I remember correctly, though... you can pretty much buy all of the skills and change your loadout any time you want. Freedom like that is what brings me to games. I don't want to be stuck in some archetype/profession and not be able to change what my character can learn. At least this system fits into the theme of the Matrix easily. It also makes it easier not to really screw up anything... so many games force people to restart if they mess up their stats or skills.

I guess I'll see you guys over on Syntax. Not sure if I'll keep my old character (if he's still around). I may just start over to re-learn the ropes or whatever...

Community General Discussion how much.... Re:how much.... Flint 0 09/17/2006 09:31

I doubt this crackhead will be able to even play the game with such a small harddrive, his computer probably sucks as well. I came standard with a 40 gig and I even just put another 40 gig in and my computer would barely run it, I had to put another 150 bucks in for a 128 mb video card and a gig of ram. He posted in the Redpill Rescue forum saying he doesn't want to delete his 4 megabyte drug farming game to get space for this, heh.

Man... This soap Opera is long... I need more popcorn. So many threads.. such a convoluted story. Seems to be headed towards some sort of climactic moment in the plot.

This plot is pretty muddled though. Hard to say what's going to happen. Awful lot of stuff gets bleeped out too.

Not sure who is having which aliens baby even. And what's with the evil twin? And why is it in spanish? Ah well ... popcorn is ready. Back in a bit.

Community General Discussion Live Events Re:Live Events Flint 0 09/15/2006 16:33
No, my friend. It's not a limited point of view, it's the fact that it's the -only- unique quality that makes it stand out from other online games. Besides maybe a more 'modern' looking world and martial arts. I guess those attracted me as well, better than sitting there clicking a button to hack someone to death with a sword all day or chant spells. But almost everything from other MMO's are there. I just recently transferred to graphical games from playing MUDs for about ten years so excuse my 'limited point of view'. Yes, the game is beautiful.. that's why I have a previous post stating that I automatically went from a trial to a paid account when I first logged in with my new graphics card.
Community General Discussion Live Events Re:Live Events Flint 0 09/15/2006 13:44
I wish they had more people working, but considering the fact that all the Matrix characters can't really be that active maybe they see it as more 'realistic' that one person controls them. Yes, he does a good job.. but the spammers and retards make it harder for everyone else to interact with the characters it seems.
Community General Discussion Live Events Re:Live Events Flint 0 09/15/2006 10:10
I said it before, and I'll say it again. Live Events is one of the reasons why I picked this MMO over all of them and upgraded my computer just to play it. What other choices do I have... play SWG and have to buy all of those expansions every time they come out because SOE wants to make a bunch of money, WoW which is basically 'the mcdonalds of mmo's' I don't really have a choice. One of the things I read so much about this game is that you could interact and roleplay with the characters from the Matrix Trilogy and that's what brought me to the game, of course that's all in the past now.. but SOE shouldn't hide behind that false advertisement now. They should post something right on the homepage that says, "Live Events: We rarely have them because SOE is too cheap to hire more people, sowwy."

I know some people like the smaller events, but I have to participate in one of these newer style ones because the developer refuses to put up a schedule.  I have a family, and while I enjoy playing MxO, I'm not going to ignore my wife and two children to wait in hope for an event to come on.   Now, if it there was something more concrete ("Syntax, on Thursday, around 8pm EST, give or take an hour, there should be an event)", that would be great.  I could schedule my time and participate, and enjoy one of the primary reasons why I signed on for this game.

As it stands now, I don't see how I could ever wind up falling into one of these.  And that's very, very frustrating.

I entirely agree with this. I have every other Friday off, but I can't just tell my fiance to go to hell and play MxO. I wish they would cater more towards weekends or do a schedule for certain things, yes.. be surprising on other things, sure. But a schedule definatly for large major 'planned' events. I realize that maybe during the weekend you might meet some more immaturity from people who say, "*CENSORED* i h8 rp, do u cheat levl 55 *CENSORED*" but there are also people who work a regular Monday-Friday and get the time to play all weekend SMILEY

Sheesh, one of the things I subscribed to play for and I don't think they even have them on the only time I'm able to play because of work.

Somewhere down the line when I get into a Organization and everything, if I ever decide I don't want to be in it anymore is there a way to traitor over to another organization? Not that I want to do this or anything, just asking so I'm not stuck with my character being in the same Org forever if something big happens that sways me over.

Well, I have my graphics card and I have the RAM on order. I guess it was good to spend a little extra money, since I did get a little extra. I was in a bad car accident and I was on medical leave so I got 100% of my wages from work plus 60% of my wages from the insurance company. I guess 140 bucks wasn't that much of a dent SMILEY

Now I have.

P4 1.7 Ghz Processor (never changed, doubt i really need much more just yet)

1 GB of  PC2100 DDR Ram (upped from 512, was originally 256,)

ATI Radeon 9550 128 mb graphics card (upped from a 64 mb geforce 2, it ran the game fine but it just wouldn't load any colors besides black and white, i could only see white people with white hair too.)

I know there's still room for improvement but hey, why spend a bunch of money when it isn't really needed.

Abilities and Disciplines Dojo - Operative Discussion MA/Duelist MA/Duelist Flint 0 09/04/2006 22:01

When I get my graphics card, I'm considering making a primary Martial Artist, most likely using Kung Fu and I want to be secondary as a duelist. I know you can change around but this is what I want my first go to be at, any abilities I should be looking for in both? I could probably load all for both when I get to max level.. best I've got is level 4 though on my trial account and I'm not sticking with that character when I really subscribe, heh.

What's a good idea for 'well placed' stats? I was considering being a devoted ascetic, but I'm going to need to up that Vitality eventually.

Community Redpill Rescue Stats Stats Flint 0 09/04/2006 17:13

Is it possible to change your stats from leveling up? If so then the personality types (Detached Spectator, etc.) are just a basis right?

What would be a good starting personality type for someone who wants to be a Martial Artist/Duelist? I was looking at Devoted Ascetic but the vitality for that is pretty low. Unsure what a good stat build would be in the end, the guides I read don't really say much.

Community Redpill Rescue Questions Questions Flint 0 09/04/2006 11:25

I started out on Recursion, I see a lot of zionites but that's probably just the area I'm in. Is Recursion really the best place to find a mix of all the factions? I would play the PvP server since it seems more realistic but it seems overly biased towards the Zionites in numbers. I'm going to restart after I get my card and trial a bit more, so I really want to find the best server for me. I'm a little confused with how things work still, I read quite a few guides but I'm unsure what I'm doing. I keep putting points into the awakened skill each level like it showed me in the tutorial. To get other skills you can just simply purchase them with your Info at any time, but there's a level req to use them? Shouldn't I be able to raise skills as well?

Another question might I add, since I don't want to make too many threads.. what does the combat look like against a bunch of level 50's is it basically just the luck of the roll since they're all pretty much evenly matched? It seems like whoever has the best status effects on will win.

Well will a Radeon 9200 play it, I found one for $40? Next thing I know you guys will tell me I need to go from 512 mb of RAM to 1000 MB of RAM, honestly it's not worth doing all this stuff to play a game I probably won't like, all I wanted to do was trial it. Maybe I should go play SWG.

Community General Discussion Guess I won't be playing.. Guess I won't be playing.. Flint 0 09/03/2006 12:07
Well I finally got my key and spent all day downloading, I get in the game and it says my graphics card is not supported. What kind of idiots design one game out of all other games that I can actually play, that does not support Geforce 2. I guess my decision to play is already made up for me, nothing else is wrong with the game except I can't change -my- haircolor, I see everyone elses just fine and the rest of the game runs fine. I don't want to hear stories about how I -need- a new graphics card, because I don't nearly play games enough to -need- to waste my money. I have enough things to worry about because of a vehicle accident than having to buy a card just to change my hair from white to brown, what a nice way to design a game that monopolizes on making people buy ATI's.

Or can I always go back and pick up those skills and somehow integrate kung-fu with using a pistol?
