On October 3, the second "Official" Machinist fighter tournament will start. It is an opportunity for everyone in our group to test their ability against each other under a specific set of rules. The goal of the event is to determine who are the best fighters in our ranks. The stake of the tournament is high : a FM-1500, offered to the winner of the tournament. An alternative prize can be offered in case the winner already has one.Registering
Operatives have to personally send me (Vogt) a personal message in the Zero One Network, or an email in the Matrix to tell that they want to be added to the list of participants. I only require the name and the faction name of the operative.
Only machinist operatives are allowed.
The limit for registration is Friday morning, October 3. During the evening, the draws will be published and the tournament will start.
Qualifications
To define the ranking of the main draw, 3 qualifications matches will be held for each operative. Each opponent for these matches will be drawn at random, and will be known at the start of the tournament. It's up to both operatives responsibility to contact each other and a judge to hold the match. The qualifications matches must be all completed for Saturday, October 21. If both contestants are unable to find a time to compete against each other, the match will be declared a loss for both operatives, and won't give any point in the qualification standing.
Main Draw
Based on their result, operatives will be ranked in order of performance. The operatives with the lowest losses ratio will be ranked to the top, while those without victories will be ranked at the bottom.
Match ups for the first round will be made, where the highest ranked operative will be matched with the lowest ranked one. In case of an equal ranking in the qualifications, a random draw will be made to determine who will be the contestants.
Each round will last 2 days. The contestants have to arrange themselves with a judge to hold their match. If a match isn't held, both participants will be eliminated, giving an automatic victory to the contestant who was supposed to meet the winner.
Losing a match in the Main Draw equals elimination. The winner of the match goes on to the next round, until the final where the last 2 operatives will fight to determine the winner.
The matches
Every match will be held in an interior place, preferably in the machine construct. Leaving the arena will give a loss. Each participant will sit during a duel against the judge to make sure both contestants start with a clean state. Each match is determined by the first contestant winning 2 duels. No change in loadouts is possible between the rounds. Improvement abilities can only be used by the contestant during the match. External interference is prohibited, but no measure will be taken to make sure that nothing has been done prior of the match.
Only one loadout is prohibited: the Patcher tree. Healing abilities and consumables of all forms are also forbidden. Except from change of clothes, nothing will be tolerated during the matches themselves.
At the end of each duel, both participants can take the time necessary to regain their strength.
The Judges
Every match must be judged by a judge. I will act as one, and I would like to get some volunteers.
Judges aren't prevented from entering the tournament. Another judge must however be present to relay the results for their fights. At the end of the match, the judge must notice the tournament organizer by e-mail or personal message in the Zero One Network of the match results, including the winner of each duel.
This is all. There might be changes to the rules if there is need of clarification. Once all the contestants are registered, a sheet for the draws will be created. This image will be updated as the rounds progress, and it's where the results of the competition will be presented.
I hope that everyone will have fun. We'll be watching closely for the results
