Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions Horrible Game Performance Horrible Game Performance Adnihilo 0 01/07/2006 20:39
I'm not sure what is happening, but I have the worst performance in the past week, which is very odd as I've had no performance issues since starting the game until now.

I have made no driver changes or hardware updates, no new software has been installed, I use disk clean-up, defrag, error checking, malware/spyware and Registry Cleaning weekly.  Other than MXO, I am having no performance issues with any other software installed on the system, games or otherwise.

I've checked my system temperatures during play and there has been perhaps a change of two degrees.  I have noted that MXO is using a considerable amount of my CPU, but I've never monitored its usage before (because I haven't had any real issues) and so I don't know what the standard there is.

Specifically, the issue is nearly non-existent while travelling outdoors or engaging in any outdoor activity.  It also does not seem to exist when going indoors until I take a mission.  Once I take a mission and head indoors, the game begins behaving erratically.  It will run smoothly, then suddenly my RSI will start moving like it's stuck in tar, then I will speed up again and slow down again.  It seems to get worse while turning corners and seems especially bad in Westview.... as a matter of fact, I didn't seem to have any (or hardly any) issues in Richland.

System specs:
AMD3000+ 2.7ghz
1GB DDR400 RAM
GeForce FX5600 w/256mb RAM
1 x 80gb HDD
1 x 40gb HDD
1 x 160gb HDD
DirectX 9.0c
Nvidia 81.89 Forceware Drivers

I've done a full patch and it seemed like there were fewer issues after I did the patch, but after about an hour they returned full force.

Any suggestions from fellow players or the devs/support are appreciated.

Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions Server Reset? Please? Server Reset? Please? Adnihilo 0 01/05/2006 14:35
In the last week or so, I've noticed others speaking about it and lately I've been suffering some unusual lag... it is especially noticeable in NPC activity (or lack thereof) where clusters of NPCs who would normally attack you simply stand around, but it's also been causing combat issues for myself, at least.  Often I'll start a combat and it will be over before I've seen more than one attack.  That doesn't necessarily bother me when I'm the one still standing, but it's annoying when I'm laying on the ground and I have no idea why.

I can't speak for everyone (or anyone, really) but Syntax really needs a server reset.

Please?
Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions Setting heapsize for MXO? Setting heapsize for MXO? Adnihilo 0 11/14/2005 15:21

Hello folks!

Just wondering if there was a way to set the program heapsize for MXO.  Most games allow it as a command extension since it's a global Windows command, but MXO doesn't appear to allow the extension; as a matter of fact, the target isn't even in quotes, which is unusual.

Anyone have an idea on this?
Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline Dire Lupines - Ugh Dire Lupines - Ugh Adnihilo 0 11/03/2005 22:44

I have had the worst time with the string of lupine missions I've gotten... not lupines in general, but rather, the lupine banes.

They should be difficult... I understand that.  But not to the point that they are impossible to hit.

I must have fought one dire lupine bane at least 15 times in the course of one mission and I did not get him down to half health a single time; on more than one occasion, I didn't lay a single finger on him.

I have MA, MA expertise and I am using Aikido; I use endure pain, and I have tried nearly every attack I have.  We are both level 12.

Now the mission has timed out because I couldn't kill the one lone bane remaining in the mission.  That is really disappointing, since it was a special mission, not a "go here, get that" mission.

I mean, what the heck? I even used four silver bullets in one fight and not a single one got through.

Okay already.. I get it.  Lupines are tough.  How about making them realistic? I mean, they're dodging everything I have... if I can't even hit them, what's the sense of having them in the mission? So I can feel like a failure?

I honestly believe the Lupine mission in the Merovingian node storyline (it's called Dire something) should be checked out.
Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions Achieving Excellent Frame Rate and Graphic Resolution Achieving Excellent Frame Rate and Graphic Resolution Adnihilo 0 10/13/2005 03:27

Up until an hour and a half ago, I was still not impressed with MXO; the game was very unresponsive and laggy on my system, which while not the absolute top of the line, is no slouch.

Then I decided to experiment with various settings in the Video (Advanced) area.

The difference after just a few minor modifications is like night and day!

I am so pleased that I thought I would post screens of the results of my adjustments that allowed me to achieve excellent frame rates, near zero (actually zero so far) lag and very good graphic resolution (in my opinion) so that others who may still be having problems may benefit from them.

My rig consists of:

AMD Athlon 3000+

1 GB DDR333 SDRAM

GeForce FX5600 256mb RAM AGP8X ViVo (BFG Asylum card)

X-Treme G  81.84 v2 Nvidia Drivers

VIA Hyperion Pro Drivers v5.04A

VIA Ultra ATA IDE Accelerator Drivers

The first screenshot is of my current graphic settings in-game.  The remaining screens are of combat and environment.  At no time during travel or combat, was there any noticeable lag.

The secret, obviously, is not to let the game manage the settings for you; turn options off and on and lower settings until you achieve the balance you need.

If your video card manages anti-aliasing per application (as most Nvidia cards are default set to do) then do NOT turn on anti-aliasing.  The effect is... bizarre :smileyhappy:

I hope this helps some people who may still be having lag / choppy gameplay issues.

Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions No Music No Music Adnihilo 0 10/11/2005 03:39

I just purchased the game last night to add to my Station Access.  Installation went smoothly, patching was very rapid and character creation was fine.  Connectivity was fine.  I have only had one issue; there is no music.

I was in the MXO beta and I clearly remember there being music when jacking in, during combat and travel.

I searched for similar issues suffered by other users here in the technical support forum. In the main one I found, I followed similar procedures.  I deleted my Profiles folder and did a full patch.  I turned off my hardware acceleration in DirectX.  I disabled sound options in game at the Audio tab.

None of this has worked.

I attempted to paste my DXDiag and MSINFO32 information here, but it seems rather futile.  The information is too long and not one other program I have, ranging from games to video editing programs (Adobe Premiere) or audio editing programs (Soundforge) have a single issue playing any sound I care to generate.

Any assistance that can be provided would be appreciated.
