Hello Everyone,

 As most of you know I have been filling in as the temporary Strategy Games Community Relations Manager until your new Community Manager could start up in Denver. Lucky for you that day has arrived, and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Minerva as your new Community Relations Manager.

 Minerva's background includes thirteen years in the online gaming business, experience playing table top card games and we are very lucky to have her.

I do not mean to sound rude, I hope that's not how this comes off but......

 What is the mission or goals for a "Community Relations Manager"

I'm asking because as you can all see there is a lot of back and forth on what is broken, what is over powered, etc.  Yet, very little comes from the developers (at least In My Opinion) as to their views or directions or explanation on certain points.

I don't expect an answer to every single nerf this, add that, type of comment but to me, when a match only lasts 1 round or 3 to 4 max, I would think we can all agree something is not right.  Whether that is one card, a combination of cards/avatar, that's the discussion.

Most can have an intelligent conversation about possible changes but in the end it makes no sense on continuing to have conversations among the community of players if the stance is X is not going to change, or Y works as intended.

I found it humerous that in the "card of the week" discussion the Orc Taskmaster was combared to the Giant Field Rat and the Rat was called situational.  I consider Sundar situation, the Steelspine Chestplate situation.  The Rat is way more then situational, unless you all define attacking and defending situation.

Anyway, welcome again.  Hope this career opportunity works out for the best.

Whats your plan to help all the non USA players get their money back since they can't play Tournaments? I'm a non USA customer for years on Sony and whats been done with LoN is going to cause me to leave and never spend another dime for or on a sony product!! I am guessing I won't be the only one either!

Clarification on my part, was not point a finger at the author or the poster.  It was meant more general, just a statement of the rat being called situational, which I thought was humerous considering its a stable in most avatar to avatar and rush unit decks.  Don't see what's situation about it and then as some stated, to say this Orc Taskmaster is some how less situational is just adding insult to injury.

At least the Orc task master needs a partner with 2 more HPs if a person wants to keep both cards on the board or if they want to play a one HP card let it do it's business and then sack it in favor of this card for defense or a future attack in the next round, sure I can see that but it takes two cards.  The rat can do the same thing and more by itself, that is not situations, that's an advantage.   As I said, situational is the ability to do one specific thing, like Sundar or Steelspine BP.

Anyway, as some have said, I hope there is a more interactive relationship.  As a person who manages in RL and has to deal with clients, transparency and communication are key to any relationship.  I really do like this game, there are some things that frustrate me at time, overall its a good game but some feedback and views in direction are requirement and given that we basically keep LoN employed as a community, I would hope that us as clients do not get taken for granted. 

If that happens, people will just slowly start to leave for other games as this one matures and issues are not addressed.

That's just business 101.  I've only started debating and posting on these boards this week because I enjoy the game and see somet things that do not look right.  If the Devs say, its fine as it is, we are not changing it, that's the call and we can stop debating and wasting time and energy talking about something that is not going to change.  If people are looking into it, like Lethal Resolve again, we can minimize the chatter back and forth and wait for further feedback.

Silence is never good, especially for a new product where changes in more frequent cycles may be necessary.  Some have said the beta was rushed, that means that adjustments need to be made sooner, if deemed needed. 

As I've said before somethings like one rounding someone, should not happen.  The bias, while inadvertent, towards avatar vs. avatar or unit vs. avatar, while questing is made almost impossible to win, seems unbalanced.  The inablity to really use higher priced cards.  They look pretty but are not really a viable choice for playing.  Those are some of the macro issues.

The micro ones we believe are issues are:

The rat

Any mana generating items

DB avatar

As some have said, in isolation I do not think any of these look crazy but in a 50 card deck with four of each type there is close to a 50/50 chance of getting at least one of each card and in combination, they are deadly, too deadly.  Will it always happen that the perfect or a really good draw will happen where you take 4 to 6 points of damage?  NO, probably 20% to 30% of the time, but you know what, it should never happen.  You should not lose 50% or 60% of  your HPs in the first round, your handicaped for the rest of the match. 

Even in Chess, there is not way your going to start a match taking out 3 or 4 pieces in your first turn, if you could, you'd almost win every time.  In chess the first move is almost always a neutral board setting move.  If you all consider this game a strategy game, which is what its categorized as: Nuking someone to near death before you get to start or withing the first two rounds IS NOT BALANCED and Very little strategy is employed: Especially if you could not do anything about it.

Yes, more people need to bulk up their defenses and sacrifce some offense, that's obvious as well but but very few are complaining about people having too much defense, its still too much fire power.

It's a new game which means its not mature and in it's viablity stage.  It requires a lot of hand holding and interaction.  Overall, I think its been going well but news and actions are slow, that's really my only complaint.  Hopefully yourself coming on board will help bridge and facilitate a gap between the community and developers.

Wow Asher.  If this game had been named "Legends of Forum Whining", or "Basement Dwellers of Norrath" you'd never lose a match.  Trust me buddy, they already know how you feel about the rat.

to keep relations good in the LoN community, i agree, need fast answers on cries of overpowered, underpowered, no its ok etc.



EVEN if fast answer is just, " Ok we are looking at card and described combos and testing it now"



And they really need too say if cards will be fixed or not before tourneys start like couple of days, so people can adjust their decks before hand and put back into them liked BROKEN cards , ( example DA poofing on Unit vs. Unit, combat, Boots of storm WRONGLY poofing on WON combats they used for etc) OR take out even cards that NEEDED to be nerfed, but the exploiters in their warped minds thought cool to use, or just greedy cheaters at heart, still, they derserve a fair chance to play fairly if their exploit cards fixed before tourneys.



AND vice versa, for those of us, who if its needed, WILL do the exploit to PROVE its a exploit and also to have a fair chance to win big against the purposeful exploiters.



I hope Minerva lives up to her name and pay and postion too, we can definitly use someone who will.



Springing from the top god's head( Zeuz or Jupitar) and being goddess of good battlles versus the evil hearted Mars , and wisdom and aider of good heros is a big hat you put on, but hope you fill it appropriately =P
