This week i had someone from Starsider asking me how Eclipse was because the lag centrals train station was blocking people. It doesnt look good when a new player to the server comes to visit Mos Eisley and we have morons dropping F-Bombs and arguing like petty retards.
You wine and complain how our server is dead at times, however you guys certainly put on a great spectale of "awesomeness" when we have people visiting, maybe thats why other servers have more people.
It is unfortunate that those who should be reading this wont be however maybe a few of them will.
This post was revised. There was a RP comment in here that i have removed. I appolgize
I wasn't able to make this event, I hope it was fun. Sorry to hear about the problems, but I am concerned about you bashing Roleplayers about in this post. Having not seen what was going on, I am probably talking out of the wrong end, but I think you will find that the RP community on Eclipse at large (and I obviously cannot speak for everyone) would back an event like this and support it. We're all about having fun, that the leet speaking kiddies can't understand.
Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick, but your post seems to be pretty negative to Roleplayers, and I don't see the need for it. If I'm mistaken, then please feel free to PM me.
That being said, although I couldn't go (and those that know me know that I love me some fishing!), I hope everyone that pitched up had a lot of fun
Unfortunately there is no reason for Stravos to remove the original RP comment. The bashing of the event was worse in RP chat than in Galaxy chat.
Other servers have just as many problems with these things, it's not just Eclipse.

Saying it happens on other servers doesn't solve anything. People need to grow up and quit setting a bad example; especially when Eclipse needs more people moving here to keep our population up. It's like we're our own worst enemies.
Oh, and about that fishing thing. I wasn't looking in Galaxy chat, so I was unaware of anything said in there. Riba pointed me to Roleplay chat, where I did see some things in there that were a bit rude. However, I harbor no bad feelings towards the person(s) who actually politely responded to Riba as to why they couldn't go. Only one thing in there I would've thought was rude, but to my knowledge Eruadan handled that person. I'm not bent out of shape over it, nor was I ever extremely mad.
I'd also like to clarify that the original post of Stravos' was not directed to Roleplayers, as Stravos knows quite a bit of CIO are partial to Roleplay.

I know, but this topic is a "general Eclipse comment" when it should be a "general SWG comment". This also would mean it's not the main reason Eclipse doesn't get a lot of people.
omg, what did I miss...

At the moment Eclipse in Eisely seems quite a lot like other servers. Some landing in game might not get a good impression, but if they have played other online games they certainly aren't going to be phased. On the other side of the coin, I have been in Eisely and seen all the helpful players who chat with new ones....even if only briefly. Those first few welcoming words, pointing a newb in the direction of quests, garage, etc can mean a lot.
And Eisley is meant to be a hive of scum and villainy......
I am not sure what was said that sparked the OP (in its original form) because in galaxychat I saw nothing but open, amiable discussion about the fishing. There will always be one or two who can't be happy about anything, but please don't be put off organising fun events for all Eclipse. Those who attended had a great time.
Anyone who likes to complain about a player event should feel very welcome to organise their own one.

I find this sad ... usually RP chat is a fun place to be, where this type of thing doesn't take place.

Tee Hee.
/AGREE.
I wouldn't worry about it, it can't be policed by the player base and it's certainly not something unique to Eclipse or even SWG.

Totally agree on this. I first came online 6 years ago when my son wanted to play JK2 online on public servers. I needed to check them out first, as a parent. (ok doomed attempt...I got hooked) and some servers were filled with pathetic filth that gave away the true ages of most of the players. And this is found in all games on all online servers. But we also have the good servers (in JK2 it was the host and his friends would police and ban) and turned out there were far more pleasant players out there than childish potty mouths.
So, son and myself have enjoyed the past 6 years meeting a host of decent players and making friends from all over the world, some of whom we eventually met with.
These incidents are just that....they may reflect badly on the server at the time, but overall what I see on our server are the helpful players who offer a few pleasant words to newcomers. Even a /greet can make a new player feel at home.
