It's really a shame there isn't as much interest as I had hoped coming from the SWG community.. but I think that is the fault of Fan Faire itself as it has widely been known as an EQ/EQ2 gathering only. Maybe if the SWG dev/community team came out and hyped the event and types of things us SWG players can look forward to there would be more interest.

Either way I will be there mainly because its a Vegas Vacation! But I do hope there is lots in store for us SWG fans.

They strolled through Theed, crossing a few bridges until they came to a small row of buildings. An old wooden sign hung outside the door of one building. Carved into the wood was the name of the restaurant, The Otolla.

“Oh, Gungan food, this should be interesting,” Raene said as she walked through the door inside.

They were greeted by a young Otolla Gungan with her ears tied back. She wore a white shirt and a multicolored skirt. “Yousa reserverations?” she asked in a petite voice.

“Aibar,” Reklaw said quietly giving his last name.

“Disen way,” the hostess said, with a slight wave of one hand. She led the two through a maze of private dining rooms until they reached the one Reklaw had reserved. She opened the sliding paper doors, revealing the dining room.

Two cushions marked where the two diners would sit before the hot cooking surface. A large picture window overlooked one of the rivers that wound through Theed.

“Oh, it’s beautiful!” Raene exclaimed as she walked into the private dining room. Reklaw joined her, and the hostess bowed to the two before leaving.

It wasn’t long before a tall, lanky Otolla Gungan wearing a red chef’s hat entered the room. He brought a large cart laden with a selection of delectable seafood and tender vegetables. “Welcome,” he said in thickly accented Basic. “Wesa gonna cook now.”

Raene and Reklaw smiled at one another, and then turned their attention to the hot grill surface the Chef began to cook on.

The dinner show was enjoyable. The chef cooked the variety of shellfish with the skill of a well trained master. He would flip the cooked bits of seafood onto their plates as it became done with a flair that left the two patrons spellbound.

When the chef was finished he made a high pitch whistle, and a team of Gungans came running with a large dish suspended between two long wooden poles. The chef poured a thick liquor over the dessert, and then set it ablaze. They set the dessert down on the grill, and departed.

“Wesa done,” the chef said, then turned and left the dining room.

“Think this is gonna go out?” Raene asked eyeing the flames.

“My don know,” Reklaw said, mimicking the Gungans, ducking the meringue Rane flicked at him.

Star Wars
has elicited volumes of fan fiction from all over the world. We all know that Star Wars Galaxies has a vast number of
really talented writers who post stories daily.
Since we have such an abundance of talent on our forums, we thought we
would draw it out and showcase fictional pieces created by our players.

Galactic Tales is a friendly writing
competition that will be held every other Wednesday. Here are the rules for
participation:

- A 500
word limit will be strictly enforced. Any
entries over 500 words will be disqualified (and removed from the thread!).

-
Each week, a different theme will be provided that your story will have
to adhere to. We want to see how well
you can write with a little direction!

-
Each time a Galactic Tales competition takes place, only one story per
person will be accepted

- No Edits after 30 minutes of first post.

-
Every time a Galactic Tales is thrown, two threads will be posted here
on the message board – The Galactic Tales Stories thread and the Galactic Tales
Discussion thread. You may NOT under any
circumstances talk about or post anything other than your story in the Galactic
Tales Stories thread. If you do, your
own story may be disqualified as a result (and your comments removed). If you’re not participating but posting in
the Stories thread, action by a moderator may be taken against you.

Factors in judging will include
spelling, grammar, story flow, character development, plot, and how well you
stick to the theme.

The winner of Galactic Tales will
receive a special Galactic Tales forum icon diplaying their creative writing prowess to the
rest of the community!

So get those creative writing juices
flowing…we look forward to seeing what Galactic Tales you come up with!

By the way, I'd like to give honorable mentions to adazinn and ButterFlyKisses as well. I really enjoyed those stories and they were in my final choices for winning.
