apparently, if you PM a member of the staff as directed by a moderator you get your PM priviledges revoked rather than a civil response. I would like to know how we are supposed to follow the instructions of "contacting" someone if the contact mechanism is removed.
thank you custodis, i figure if i am asked to take an issue off line and directly to the individual then it should be handled professionally. I anxiously await a response.

We had some issues earlier today with the subscription server not talking with the forum server. This means that the forums couldn't verify if you had a valid account or not which would cause some problems like not being able to see forums and not being able to PM.
You might have to give it some time to get everything sorted out as I believe the subscription server communication is continuing to have some issues.
does that mean that you did, or did not receive my PM?
followed virragos instructions, still no PM function.

I was PM'ing this AM even when I wasn't able to log in to the forums (assuming they were doing maintenance this morning).

We don't actually have the ability to remove the Private Message feature from a single person.You may want to try logging out of the forums, then deleting your browser cookies, close browser, and then reopen and login. That should help.

Ok, i'll see if I can find out anymore info..... (grr these forums aggravate me too)
Usually from what I notice on days where the scheduled reboots happen, the forums go really quirky (atleast for me). I'd be logged in and can't make posts etc.
Today morning I wasn't able to see any forums if logged in using my user account for about couple of hours.
Not sure if they are really connected to each other, but just throwing it out there incase if it can help -- since usually I notice this wierdness on the days of server reboots.
like golbat, i was still able to PM even though forums were not working right. My PM functioned disappeared after I sent a PM to a VG red name rather than post further in the forums about the question/answer threads. Since then I have done everything suggested and still no PM ability.
