I don't think I'm alone in my questions about the Forum Rules of conduct. I'm referring to the clause that says (one may not)

~troll the forums. "Trolling" is defined as: Posting with the intent of stirring up trouble or to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide constructive suggestions or comments and instead making disruptive comments.

I'm wondering if we could have some clarification of the meaning of the word 'intent,' and also the process by which people who post are deemed to have 'intended' something. The term is of sufficient importance that it has been included twice in the relevant section, and as such it is not unreasonable to ask for a clear definition, especially when it might eliminate many of the 'violations' that we're seeing.

All that is required is that someone be up front and concise about what the rules are.

In addition, it would be instructive if you could give us a clear sense of what  constitutes 'constructive' suggestions or comments and also what constitutes 'disruptive,' ideally in the context of RMT. The latter is I think most important given that it must by definition entail a tangible or measurable negative result that would not have otherwise resulted.

Sincerely,

Eggs

Please don't derail this thread.

This is an opportunity for someone to post in concise fashion exactly what the rules are such that we might see, in any given case, if they are being applied reasonably and fairly.

I realize that it will take some time to respond, given that anything that happens in future beyond the scope of this answer answer will then be quite easily identified as 'unresonable.'

We're waiting.

It means exactly what it says, if you make a post knowing it will cause drama or incite more people to cause trouble... then it is trolling.

Locking this thread now.
