Chapter 1:
The Opening Act

Roger Decon, a name unknown to many, but the owner of one of the most infamous name’s in the city: BloodlustV. While growing up he was continuously harassed by the other kids until one day his father, who owned a dojo in Kaede in the International district of the city, started to train Roger in Kung Fu. Roger had no more hard times after learning Kung Fu since he would fight back anytime anyone would pick on him and he gained a lot of respect from people until one day, while walking down the streets of Hampton Green in the Downtown District, his parents were killed before his eyes while someone was fighting some gang members near by. Some stray bullets hit both of his parents but missed him because he was too small. The man that had been fighting the gang members noticed Roger and that his parents had been killed in the fight.
“Damn it, I should’ve paid more attention…” The Man said frustrated about letting two innocent people get killed.
“M-Mommy… D-Daddy…!” Roger cried out dropping to the ground hugging his parent’s dead bodies.
“Kid, I’m sorry this all happened… It was my fault. Do you have any relatives in the area or anything that I can take you to?” The Man asked still in a bit of shock.
:N-No. M-Mommy and D-Daddy were all I-I had.” Roger said kneeling down next to his parents still crying.
“This is bad; the poor kid is all alone now because of me… I have no choice but to take him in then.” The Man thought to himself and then extended his hand to Roger. “If you would like, I’ll look after you since this is my fault to begin with. You can live with me until you find your relatives or something; I doubt you would like to live with social workers or anything like that, right?” The Man asked with a fake smile on his face covering up the guilt he felt.
“B-But M-Mommy and D-Daddy are still here, I-I can’t leave them.” Roger said still fully in tears hardly able to get words out of his mouth.
“What’s you name, kid? Once your Mommy and Daddy get better I’ll take you back to them, okay?” The Man asked fully knowing that his parents were dead.
“R-Really? I-I’m Roger, Roger Decon.” Roger said wiping his tears away and standing up while an ambulance along with some police cars were coming down the road.
“Come on, we got to go. They’ll take care of your parents while you’re away; let’s just get you out of here for now. I’m Dennis Richards.” Dennis said grabbing Roger’s hand and running down an alleyway to the subway station.
“You promise to take me back to my parents when they’re okay again?” Roger asked looking at Dennis while he lead him to the subway.
“Yes, once they are better I will take you to them.” Dennis said as they got on the subway and headed down the line for Morrell.
After stopping in Morrell they switched lines to the yellow line and made their way towards Richland and to Kedemoth, where Dennis Richards lived. After walking for a few minutes longer they had finally arrived at Dennis’ place, it was a nice little red brick house with a European look to it because of the designs the iron rods had on the roof. Dennis walked up to the front door with his keys out and Roger following behind him shyly but just then the door flung open and a little girl about Roger’s age, six years old or so, jumped out at Dennis with her arms wide open.
“Daddy!” The little girl shouted cheerfully jumping into Dennis’ arms.
“Whoa, you scared me, Nicole.” Dennis said laughing while he caught Nicole when she jumped at him.
“I’m just happy you’re back now, Daddy.” Nicole said cheerfully when she noticed Roger. “Daddy, who is he?” She asked now standing on the ground pointing at Roger.
“Oh, him, his name is Roger Decon and he’ll be staying with us until his parents get better.” Dennis said putting his hand behind Roger and pushing him up from behind him to meet Nicole.
“Oh? Are they sick?” Nicole asked looking up at Dennis.
“Yes, something like that. Well now, aren’t you going to introduce yourself?” Dennis asked with a smile looking at Nicole when suddenly the door opened even more.
“What’s this about staying with us?” A woman’s voice asked sounding annoyed.
“Oh, honey, there’s something we need to discuss. I’ll leave you two to get more acquainted for now since we’ll all be living together and all.” Dennis said walking inside the house to talk with his wife.
“Okay, Daddy!” Nicole said cheerfully turning back to Roger while he stood there with a blank look on his face. “Nice to meet you, I’m Nicole Richards.” She said cheerfully grabbing Roger’s hand and shaking it violently.
“Ah! Nice-to-meet-you-to.” Roger said while being shook by the violent handshake.
“Oh, sorry. I was a bit excited because I’ve never had a brother before.” Nicole said cheerfully with a big smile on her face.
“Brother?” Roger asked confused looking at Nicole.
“Yes, since you’ll be living here with us that’ll make you my brother, right?” Nicole asked looking at Roger.
“I-I guess so.” Roger said thinking about it looking around the yard.
“Then let’s go play the Nintendo!” Nicole stated cheerfully ready to grab Roger’s hand.
“O-Okay-!“ Roger started to say when Nicole grabbed his hand and dragged him inside.
While Roger and Nicole went upstairs to play the Nintendo, Dennis and his wife were in the dinning room talking about Roger.
“Linda, his parents were killed by them on accident while I was in the middle of a fight.” Dennis said looking around making sure neither one of the kids were around.
“Them, you mean when you were fighting the Zionists?” Linda asked looking at Dennis and just at that moment Nicole had walked down the stairs to get Roger something to drink and overheard everything.
“Yes, some stray bullets hit them. That’s why I plan on letting him live with us, I’ll even train him when he’s old enough.” Dennis said while Nicole continued to listen in.
“You don’t mean…?” Linda asked surprised looking at Dennis.
“Yes, I’ll train him with rifles so he’ll take my place one day. She told me that I would be meeting the one that would be replacing me today.” Dennis said walking over to the window and looking outside.
“You don’t mean, the Oracle?” Linda asked surprised.
“Yes, she said to train the boy because he would be of some importance to the Merovingian in the future.” Dennis said while Nicole walked out from behind the wall acting like she didn’t hear anything except for the last part.
“Who is the Maravingan, Daddy?” Nicole asked looking at Dennis innocently.
“The Merovingian is Daddy’s boss. Now what did you come down for?” Dennis asked looking at Nicole with a smile hoping she didn’t hear what they said before.
“I came down to get Roger some juice.” Nicole responded and Linda smiled and walked into the kitchen.
“I’ll get you a glass then.” Linda said getting a glass of grape juice.
“Just what will Roger’s job be with the Merovingian in the future? I’ll have to start his training tomorrow then.” Dennis thought to himself finally making the decision to go along with what the Oracle said to do.
Over the next nine years straight, Dennis trained Roger everyday with rifles and hand-to-hand combat. Roger is now fifteen years of age and a sophomore in high school at Mega City High along side Nicole, who had most of the same classes as Roger by coincidence. Then that day came along, March 14, while on their way home, Roger and Nicole noticed some people dressed in some strange black leather clothing with some odd machines over their eyes rush into their house shouting for Zion before they rushed in.
“Did your parents say they were having guests today…?” Roger asked confused looking over at Nicole.
“No…” Nicole responded a little worried. “Wait, Zion… Where did I hear that name from…? That’s right! They were the ones that killed Roger’s parents!” She thought shocked and then it hit her, she realized what might be happening. “Roger, they’re with the same group that killed your parents and they might be here for mine!” She shouted and a horrified look came over Roger’s face.
“So, they are responsible for their deaths and now they want to kill my new family? That is unforgivable!!” Roger shouted angrily turning to face the chain link fence and jumped over to it rushing over to a tree.
“Roger, what are you planning on doing?” Nicole asked worriedly.
“I’m going to get my revenge and I’m going to protect your parents!” Roger stated pulling down a limb on the tree opening a little door that held a black rifle inside. “Stay here and keep yourself hidden.” He said starting to make his way to the house.
“They’ll kill you!” Nicole cried out when suddenly black cars arrived outside the building and what looked like F.B.I Agents all dressed in black got out.
“Hold it right there, boy. We will take it from here.” An Agent said putting his hand out stopping Roger.
“What are you talking about? Those lunatics are trying to kill my parents!” Roger shouted about to rush past the four Agents when one of them swiftly hit him in the guy immobilizing him in an instant while Nicole rushed over to him.
“Now, the both of you stay put. We will handle the situation in the most efficient manner.” An Agent said before the four of them walked into the house just as shootings were heard inside the house.
“Roger, are you okay?” Nicole asked worried holding him up while kneeling on the ground next to him.
“Yeah, I just got the wind knocked out of me. Damn those Agents, for all we know…” Roger said clinching his fist when suddenly there were some gunshots coming from within the house. “No…!” He stated in shock about to rush into the house when the Agents walked out of the house with the people that had gone inside the house in cuffs.
“This area is clear. Though, we were too late to stop them, they will now be judged by the judicial system.” One of the Agents say taking away the Zionists while an ambulance arrived on the scene.
“Nicole… I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to….” Roger said turning to look at Nicole when he noticed her running the other direction. “Nicole!” He shouted running after her.
He caught up to Nicole in a park next to a tree. She had her back turned away from Roger crying while leaning against the tree.
“Nicole…” Roger said looking at her feeling that he should’ve been able to protect them. “I’m sorry I wasn’t able to do anything, I should’ve been able to stop them with the training your father gave me…” He said when suddenly she turned around and brushed against his chest crying.
“It’s not your fault; you were forced to standby by those Agents. Please don’t blame yourself.” Nicole said crying looking up at Roger while it started to rain lightly.
“Nicole…” Roger said surprised looking down at Nicole. “Even if you don’t blame me, but I give you my word that I’ll get revenge for them one day. I don’t know when but I will get them for this sooner or later.” He said putting his arms around her to comfort her while they stood there in the rain.
“Just don’t do anything too dangerous…” Nicole said laying her head on his chest. “…because you’re all I have left now.” She said under her breath.
“I cannot forgive those murderers for what they did to Nicole’s parents and the ones that killed my parents! They will pay for what they’ve done!” Roger thought to himself angrily looking straight ahead confident he would get his revenge on them.
The next couple of weeks Nicole and Roger went through the funeral proceedings and learned that her parents had saved up a very large sum of money for Nicole if they were to be killed as well as large life insurance policies. Instead of moving out or spending all the money in an irresponsible way, the two of them stayed in the same house after paying the rest of the payments off. They continued their daily life as high school students and started becoming closer as time went by and Roger continued with his training. Once they finished high school, Nicole went to a technical school for telecommunications while Roger decided to join the police academy thinking he could fix in injustices that were happening everyday in the city similar to the ones that lead to his parents and Nicole’s parent’s deaths.
While going through all the police training he refined his weapons skills even more and even started to learn some Aikido. Through the next few years he went through some extreme training by the academy as well as his side training while still meeting with Nicole every once in a while to keep in touch until finally it was graduation day from the academy. He had graduated from the top of his class due to his expertise in all fields, which lead to him getting a job quickly the police department around Tabor Park. At this exact time, Nicole also got a job with Vico Corporation thanks to her excellence with her internship and her telecommunication skills learned through her college.
All these incidences have lead up to this but how much was actually by accident and how much was on purpose? Whatever the case, Roger now finds himself as a police officer in Tabor Park with his academy friend, Jason Morris, as his partner.
“I can’t believe that we ended up in Tabor. Roger, how did we end up here? Weren’t we in the top five of the class? I mean we should’ve at least been stationed Downtown or something.” Jason said complaining while sitting in the passenger seat of the police car.
“I don’t know about you, but I asked to be stationed here.” Roger said with a smirk driving the car around the area in the middle of the night.
“Oh, right. That girlfriend of yours, what was her name… Nicole?” Jason asked looking over at Roger and he swerved surprised.
“Haven’t I told you before? She’s not my girlfriend; she’s more of a sister.” Roger said turning a little red while getting back to focusing on driving.
“Riiight. Why not quit acting like a little grade school kid and ask her out already? It’s obvious you have feelings for her. I mean I’ve known you for about five years now and I can tell… though you did go out with those other girls…” Jason said trying to figure out Roger.
“Don’t give me that. She is like a sister and we’ll leave it at that, okay?” Roger asked when suddenly a report of a robbery in progress came over the radio. “Should we take it?” He asked looking over at Jason.
“Why not, we have nothing better to do but argue over if you’re in love with your ‘sister’ or not.” Jason said picking up the radio and acknowledging that they’ll head over and check it out.
Roger and Jason headed over to the East side of Tabor to check out the robbery. When they arrived the alarm wasn’t going off but they decided to get out of the car and search around the building and that is when they noticed the back door had been broken open.
“Looks like we have something here after all, call for backup and I’ll proceed inside.” Roger said to Jason while heading inside the door with his gun out.
“Roger that.” Jason said jokingly and headed to the police car when suddenly a bullet hit him directly in the chest knocking him out but not killing him because of his bulletproof vest.
Roger continued walking around the building and noticed the elevator stopped on the tenth floor so he pushed the button to wait for the elevator. Once it arrived he got on and pushed the button for the tenth floor with his gun ready. The doors opened and he peeked around the halls making sure it was clear before stepping out.
“No, don’t come any closer!” A Man’s voice shouted obviously terrified.
“Now, now, you owe my boss his money and if you don’t pay up.... Well, let’s just say you better pay up now.” Another Man’s voice said in a cocky tone.
“B-But I don’t have that kind of money on me now! I-I can get it though, just give me a few more days!” The First Man shouted terrified.
“What kind of robbery is this?” Roger thought to himself slowly making his way towards the voices.
“Look, I already had to take down a cop, so you’re paying one way or another right now! My boss won’t wait another day!” The Second Man shouted annoyed.
“There’s no way I can-!” The First Man started to shout when there was a gunshot followed by the sound of a thump, like a body hitting the floor.
“No way! He took out a cop and he just shot someone!?” Roger thought to himself shocked not realizing he was talking about Jason while he arrived outside the door of the boardroom and looked in to see a man dressed in all black setting down the same handgun the first man was shot with in his hand. The man in black also dusted something on the dead man’s hand, which seemed to be gunpowder. “Is that guy an assassin?” He thought to himself in shock accidentally hitting the door making a sound.
“Damn! I’ve been caught!” The Assassin stated running towards the window opening it quickly and reaching into one of his pockets and fired what sounded like a dart gun at a building across the street.
“Freeze, Police!” Roger shouted charging into the room to see the Assassin wave to him as he slid down a wire that was connected to the building across the street. “Damn it! I won’t lose that easily.” He said looking around and spotted a stapler. “You better hold up.” He said putting it around the wire and slid down after the Assassin but once he was about ten feet off the ground the stapler broke making him drop nearly in the street while the Assassin made his way down an alley. “I said: ‘Freeze, Police!’” He shouted getting off the ground and chasing after the Assassin and when he turned the corner he noticed the Assassin accidentally ran down a dead end and was cornered. “Now, give yourself up and I won’t have to shoot you.” He said pointing his gun at the Assassin.
“You police are all the same, lazy pigs. Though, you are quiet persistent following me from even that height with a stapler no less, however, this is where you lose.” The Assassin said pulling out a knife and throwing it at Roger quickly but as quick as the Assassin was, he was unable to beat Roger’s years of weapons training and Roger shot down the knife with his gun. “N-No way, you shot down that knife like it was nothing.” He said in dismay.
“I’ve been trained to handle guns nearly all my life; it should be pretty easy to shoot down a little knife like that. Now give yourself up and I won’t have to shoot you.” Roger said with his gun still aiming at the Assassin.
“I like your style kid. You’ll be perfect to be my successor. Even though I look this young; I’m actually an old man that’s been waiting for someone to replace me. Forty years is just too old to continue this game I see but with your skills you’ll have no problem fitting in getting the big hits.” The Assassin said admiring Roger’s skills.
“Why would I even think of becoming an assassin?” Roger asked slightly interested.
“Well, let me guess. You have this grudge against someone, maybe an organization of some sorts? Well, I can provide you with a door to that organization that you might be after.” The Assassin said trying to convince Roger to take his place.
“How did you know that?” Roger asked confused.
“Some crazy woman that I had read my fortune told me I would meet someone that was looking for a way to get revenge on an organization called Zion or something like that. Anyway, she also told me that you would be taking my place in order to avenge what they had done to you and a friend of yours.” The Assassin said now sure that Roger was the one the woman had spoken about.
“Eh…!?” Roger uttered surprised by what he had just said thinking about all the deaths that happened around him. “If I were to take the job, would there be a chance for me to get revenge?”
“The woman that I asked said: ‘It will be a long road stained in blood but in the end, that man will be given the chance to get revenge if he so chooses.’ So, will you take the job?” The Assassin asked looking at Roger with a smirk on his face.
“Damn it, I thought I would be able to get justice becoming a cop… but I guess I have no other choice but to take this path, right?” Roger asked determined to get back at those who had killed Nicole’s parents.
“Very well, you must head to Uriah at the coordinates on this card and type in the code on the back of that card. From there, the computer will add your retina scans into the database to let you in.” The Assassin said tossing Roger a little card that looked like a business card and he picked it out of the air. “Now… you must finish this deal by taking these and killing me.” He said taking off his black clothes and throwing them in a pile to reveal he had a full black ops suit underneath.
“What do you mean take the clothes?” Roger asked confused by what the Assassin had been saying to him. “Besides, why would I kill you?”
“It’s the tradition of my teacher and the teacher before him. ‘The one that catches the assassin is rewarded with his position and he is to be erased.’ That is the rule that I follow.” The Assassin said ready to give his life for the tradition.
“I-I can’t kill you….” Roger said hesitating to pull the trigger of the gun while pointing at the Assassin.
“Oh really now, what if I were part of this Zion organization? Would you shoot me then, no?” The Assassin asked starting to move towards Roger with his hands out at his side.
“D-Don’t come any closer!” Roger exclaimed not wanting to shoot.
“Do it, you’ll feel much better. Once you get your first kill, everything else will be downhill from there and I guarantee you’ll like it. So, I’ll make it a lot easier for you to kill me.” The Assassin said pulling out three throwing knives in each hand ready to throw at Roger.
“Don’t do it! I’ll really shoot!” Roger shouted biting his lip.
“Hahaha, just shoot me before you’re the one that ends up dead!” The Assassin stated pulling back his hands to throw them but before he threw them Roger pulled the trigger shooting the Assassin right through the heart killing him nearly instantly.
“Roger! Are you okay!?” Jason shouted turning the corner running up to Roger’s back but he just stood there breathing hard. “Roger, are you okay?” He asked slowly approaching Roger and walking around him to see a smirk on Roger’s face as though he enjoyed what he had just done.
“Of course I’m fine. I just had a lid pulled over my eyes and know what I must do now. I’m sorry Jason, but I’ll be quitting the force.” Roger said walking over to the black clothes and picking them up.
“W-What’s wrong? You don’t seem like yourself.” Jason asked a little creeped out by Roger’s new attitude.
