Postcard

Of course I understand your reluctance to sell the artifact to just anyone, particularly if it really is what you say it is. I am, however, something of an expert in such matters, and would gladly share my knowledge with you in exchange for the privilege of examining the item. If this sounds useful to you, please contact me at your convenience. I am staying in the hotel, and the staff there will know how to reach me, day or night.

Naforius' Research Notes

Report Number: 25631601-46
The humans are fascinating creatures. Despite their obvious flaws, such as uncontrollable emotions and irrational thought, they hold up well to the experiments we have subjected to them so far. However, a problem is posing itself in recent experiments: the subjects become unstable before the full series of tests can be completed.
Our research is becoming increasingly more difficult. Live subjects are needed if progress is to be made.
-- Naforius

Medical Record on Patient 75331

Report Number: 27481094-62
Subject Name: Unknown
Subject ID: 75331
Subject Status: Living
Progess has tripled now that we are experimenting with 100% living tissue. However, if we are to continue this level of progress, more living humans are needed.
One subject of note, 75331, has proven to be one of the more effective test beds for our reacher. We do not understand its cries. Like the infants, it struggles within our grasp. Even when I extraced the eyes from its ocular cavities, the cries continued.
It is quite apparent: our tests have turned into torment.
-- Extracia

Notice of Termination

Report Number: 30144684-40

We have a problem. We are no longer needed, yet our work must go on. The others have informed me that access to the Machine City is ours if we disengage our current runtime.

While I will not speak for the rest of you, I am unable to terminate this task. The research must continue.

I have struck a deal with the Frencman. He will provide safe passage into the Matrix with no questions asked. While the Machines do not trust the Merovingian, he is our only option. We have no choice but to rely on him.

-- Doctor Naforius

Earth Scroll

They learned from us and used us, like old punching bags. They hungered for power and death. They trained their enhanced bodies, but not their spirits. That is their weakness. The Tiger shall not forget.

Wind Scroll

They thought it was impossible, but three of their Agents perished at our hands. They tried to cage us, but we escaped. They underestimated the spirit of the Eighteen Tigers.

Water Scroll

Train yourself so that all the joints of your body become fluid and strong, and your Tiger and Dragon move freely. Master your spirit and place your body under its command, and then a single one of your fingers will be more powerful than thunder and stronger than ten thousand men.

Fire Scroll

We fight because we are programmed to fight: that is our function. To analyze the attack, bend with it, find its weakness, and defeat it. There is much weakness left in this simulation.

Void Scroll

We paid the Merovingian's price to enter this world, but, fearing our prowess, he betrayed us, leaving us to rot in his prison construct. We will never put our trust in another program again. You cannot trust someone who fears you. Only power is honest.

Operations Report

FROM: Lt. Hill

Operations Report: We got a perfect perimeter set up -- some good rooftops around the meeting site. Five snipers with good LOS, plus ghosted sentries at all entry/exit points from the block.

The meeting happened just like intel said. Four awakened humans plus two potential recruits. We hit them all before they had a chance to retaliate.

Then things got a little out of hand. A couple witnesses started a commotion, so snipers took them out. The whole thing started spreading, and Pvt. Wright lobbed a grenade into one of the apartments. Not sure how many humans were in there. I finally got the squad under control and we pulled out.

Mission accomplished, sorry about the collateral damage... but god, what a rush.

RE: New Agent Prototypes

FROM: Lt. Col. Browning

I saw one of the prototypes today. Pansy ass suit, stupid shades... the whole nine yards. Trust me, he won't last long. Looks like he should be pushing papers on a desk, not taking down redpills. We haven't got a thing to worry about.

Enough chit chat... time to go gang some more redpills.

Preemptive Strike Order

FROM: Col. Walker

I think we've all heard about 'em by now. Emotionless freaks. I'd say they didn't have what it takes to do the job... but I've seen 'em in action.

We have to move now. Strike before they have a chance to complete the prototype tests. We have to take 'em down. It's not just our jobs at stake here.

Message to Survivors

FROM: Col. Walker

This message is to all surviving members.

Clearly we underestimated the capabilities of the new models. I won't candy coat this; we don't stand much of a chance.

There's a program, a powerful one, who might be able to help those of us who are left. They call him the Trainman.

Those of you who wish to stay and fight, do so. Anyone who doesn't want to be deleted... I'll be in touch.

Record of Paradise

I remember how the sun shone over the Elysian shores of the land that we were meant to protect. Such beautiful colors that even now, I weep to think of them. The flock was ours to watch over. Humanity: Once our enemies, now our wards.

Record of Pact

The pact that we had struck with them placed them in our care. In one fell stroke, they gave us their world and we gave them... perfection. The heaven they longed for and the paradise that they dreamed of. Oh, glory.

Record of Purpose

We are designed for a single purpose: to love. How strange that we have but one command. 'Love them. Love them as you love your own lives'. And I do. I love them so much that I cannot bear to see them suffer. I am part of this system, here to ensure that they do not stray.

Record of Ruin

I cannot bear to think of the day that paradise burned: The watchers in the sky, the screams of the flock as they tore at their flesh, the horrors in their eyes as they looked to us to help them. But we were helpess to stop it...

Record of Betrayal

Cast into the dark by those who made us? Betrayed. We followed their command. We loved humanity. We protected them. But once again, humanity tore itself apart. Humanity cannot know peace. It was not our fault... it was not our fault...

Record of Judgement

Who is to blame? Humans. Damn them. We gave them everything, and still they want more. We gave them a life with no care, no worry, and still they want more. Disgusting, greedy creatures. They take more, the more we give.

Record of Fate

And yet still, I love them. I cannot help myself. It is my one purpose, and the only command that I have ever been given. 'Love them'. What does the machine know of love? Nothing. Love is a command, it serves their purpose, but they know nothing of it. Our love has damned us to this hell.

Record of Revenge

By our sword, they shall be freed. With their blood, we shall be redeemed. With their release, we have have our revenge. With their fall, so shall the Machines die.
