Well well thanks everyone.

I have got myself set up with a job and start in the new year.  So i am arranging to have internet access in the next day or two.  I am however not coming back to the game.

I have had a good think about the changes Rare and SOE have made and i strongly feel that they have now completely destoyed the game.  So i will not be coming back... unless there are some drastic changes made.  I have been keeping an eye on the forums and am seeing more and more people leaving the game.

Anyone that wants to add me to msn is welcome to.  If i could ask that you let me know who you are when you send your request through.

I thought its quite clear.  I do not believe the people that run this game have any idea what they are doing, therefore i wouldnt expect to see a winter patch when everyone else does.  There.. any clearer for you?

I would just like to congratulate Rarebit and Sony Online Entertainment for finally killing what could have been the best MMO ever.

I for one wont be back.  If it hadnt been for the fact ive been so busy lately i would have cancelled my subscription.

Well i have to admit this year has been a bit of a whirlwind for me.

2009 is going to be very exciting as i have now relocated to Amsterdam.  Im taking it nice and easy in my search for a new job.  I have managed to get myself a little time online as i am doing maintanence on a few PC's in an internet cafe.  Hopefully i will have a job lined up in the new year if not before.. but its great here!

Anyway.. all the best for you all in 2009 and i hope you enjoy your festivities.

I always make a new character, /suicide to log in as a level 1 and then tag the node and a hardline. I'll be level 3. The lower level your lowbie is, the easier the NPC's are to kill. I'll get to that in a second.

The Corruptor spawns every 45 minutes. To skip this, you have to teleport the lowbie around. With every teleport you have a chance to spawn the Corruptor on the lowbie. Shouldn't take more than 10 teleports, which saves you the time waiting for one to spawn.

After spawning, you and the lowbie have to get at a little distance from the Corruptor. Every minute or two minutes it attacks you and takes away 80% of your health (notice its a percentage, not an amount). Need to find the right distance, but that's not too hard to do.

Because you spawned the Corruptor with the lowbie, the NPC's will be 3 levels higher as the lowbie. Yippy, no level 53's! They're easy to kill =) The Corruptor will stay for 45 minutes.
I load area hacks because they have a longer cast timer than the Ballista hacks. If I kill the low level NPC's too quick, I have to get near the Corruptors attack range to loot them. I rather have a longer cast timer so I don't have to walk so much.

Every now and then a random spawn of level 53's will come. You can hyperjump to get rid of those. Or you can try to find the stairs that connect Bathary with Stamos. There are two of these. If you can get the Corruptor to spawn in Bathary, but stay in Stamos then these random spawn won't be bothering you. Make sure you hack the Stamos node on your account and the lowbie one.

To kill the Corruptor you need 340 frags. These can be traded for insecticide at the Fumigator. The Corruptor has 5100 health and doesn't regenerate the health it loses. Each spray of insecticide does 15 damage, regardless of your characters level.
Remember the Corruptor takes away 80% of your health every minute or so. It's therefore best to attack it with the lowbie, so you can heal it up to its max health quick. The level 50 stays just out of its attack range, attacks the few NPC's that come with the Corruptor. I think it stops spawning those if you don't loot the corpses, but I am not sure. Been too long since I did this. They're easy to kill anyway.

 

All of this takes a little while to get used to. Once you farmed your first stack of frags you'll get the hang of it. It's all too easy. Just extremely time consuming, especially when you're going for the Headgear. Good luck.

The best place to do this is on the warehouse roofs in bathory.

I have farmed a headgear in 2 days before.  Its mind numbingly boring and not really worth the reward to be honest but at the time i was selling them on order so it made me really quite rich.

Kinda sad that im just about to leave Scotland for good.. but i keep noticing more and more Scottish folk playing.

Well normally i would agree that i would be back at some point.  However... its going to be very hard to play without an internet connection.

Seeing as im moving to a new country with no job yet i cannot possibly justify spending money on this anymore, couple that with lack of connectivity and a serious lack of desire to jack in...

In all honesty Vins im done with this.  There is absolutely no inspiration for me to play anymore and hasnt been for some time.  In my less than expert opinion this game is dead.  It wouldnt matter what was added.  It would only provide a tempory fix im sure.  Once the initial rush of the new content has passed then its back to the same old same.

There is only one thing that could save this game imo... more people playing.  That would change everything.

Well for those of you who are lucky enough to know me it is time to say farewell.

I had initially planned on reactivating my account once my relocation to amsterdam was complete.  However i must admit that i find it very difficult to jack these days.  The very reasons i play mxo have long since vanished and being in a faction that is mostly US based makes it very hard to keep up with my friends.  Inspiration has long since departed and personally i feel like the game has hit a wall in terms of story.  In short.. its RUBBISH!!! Ha!

There a few people that i would like to give special mention to before i depart:

Well i cant comment on the RP you have mentioned as i have seen or heard nothing of it.  Im not belittling it in anyway.. im sure its wonderful.  However, what i mean is that a lot of "hardcore RPers" that were well known in the community to have been where its at have long since moved on and ive yet to see anyone fill their boots.  Compared to how RP used to be on this server in particular... the scene is dead.

I disagree.  There should be more to this game than just a storyline.  Personally i lost interest in the story long ago when it became less matrixy to me.  Granted thats my issue with how i feel about it but that doesnt hide the fact that unless you want to collect items, old or new or pvp there is nothing to do in this game other than chat to folk, dance or whatever.  Granted i could always look for RP but seeing as that has apparently croaked it... well its pointless.  How many people do you see standing around hardlines... doing nothing?  I think that paints quite an appropriate picture.

True, but after level 50, what encouragement is there to level? If you're someone like me - that is to say someone who severely dislikes PvP and generally prefers missioning and roleplay (on the rare occasion it can be found) - there's no real rush to level up and we prefer to take our time. After level 50, you stop getting XP, so encouraging levelling only goes so far, and I'd prefer to not boost the level cap. The lowbies, and those of us who choose to take our time, are getting the crap end of the stick.

Im very much of the opinion that the game pretty much ends at 50 after a certain period of time.  Once you hit 50 there are only a certain amount of things you can do.  Unless you are into collecting / farming or PVP its the same old same day in day out.  If Rare is encouraging players to hit max level he needs to add some actual end game content.

Sure you can farm all those magic items but lets face it... they are nothing but a pure grind.  Anyway.. thats another point.

Yeah when i log in as one of my non farming alts and actually go places like the constructs i try to pvp but theres seldom anyone in the constructs and if you are lucky enough to find someone they run and cry.

Kinda devalues the auto flag feature of going into a construct.
