What other game has the interlock system and you can hyperjump after opponents.

As Brom said, MxO is full of win and always will be

What in particular do you think's the most innovative thing about the combat system?

I just don't really know what to suggest to make things better. Daily LEs were too much, announcing a LE apparently scares the heck out of you because heaven forbid someone come up and say something less-than-quality to a LE character and you might have to put them on ignore even though you don't hesitate to put others on ignore PLUS omg the lag. Outside that, there's not a whole lot to be done that can be used to interact with the storyline for a large scale of players with the exception of LESIG, but that's not you and can't be considered 100% part of the storyline.

It seems to me and I know a few others that you're catering to the people who whine and complain. For the most part, the dozen or so people that showed up to events and showed constant support to you and LESIG are out of things to do in this game now. Those people who would constantly cause problems and still do, have you ever tried, despite it being out of your job description, talking to those people and figuring out why they're acting like that at a Live event or are riding your case constantly? Just calm down if you're not, talk to them, take whatever you can to help out of their angry PM. What's the worst that'll happen? It's nice to see you care, as you've shown by posting in this thread and in other threads.

This is the next "CR 2.0" that loses people just because it's a change. I'm certaintly not going to tell you what you're doing is right or wrong, because I'm just one person and represent only a portion of the game's population's beliefs. To be bluntly honest, this seems like the path of least resistance for you. You're an art guy, you do art very well in my opinon. The Cinematic you made was well beyond my expectations and I liked it. But you're cutting out the parts that were stressing you out and are to me avoiding confrontation with the problems you don't want to face, while trying to do and concentrate on the things that you seemingly like to do and do very well. You just seem scared to do anything that might step on a toe or ten, worried that you'll horribly mess something up. But you know your work and yourself better than I do, so I could very well be wrong.

I'm not trying to attack you personally, I just want to help you reflect on what you're doing. Maybe it'll help, I know a swift kick in the butt helped me.

You know what? You're perfectly right. You succeded so well past every other Zion/EPN faction, and even every other faction in MxO for simply not giving into those urges to spell out ape noises in area chat, that you got Rarebit to find you and talk to you on a LE character. Congrats. I'm sure you'll have plenty more of these private sessions in the future!

Do you think that'll fall into the same pattern of the same people showing up to the events?

Community General Discussion I'm The Minority Re:I'm The Minority eval 0 12/10/2008 01:04

I'm giving Rarebit and company more time before I decide on the New Approach thing. Another big patch or two should be good enough.

But I for one logged in for the patch, got my gear in a couple of days, and didn't log back in with the exception of the org meetings and sat mostly alt+tabbed for that party. The only things that have really been keeping me with MxO are the friends I've made and the storyline. And, because the storyline doesn't seem to me as dynamic anymore and the LE character appearances with the exception of the Org meeting/party are getting sparser, I feel less and less compelled to play and stay subscribed. Even just seeing Ghost and reading his interaction with a random group of people was enough to make me read the whole LE post which I hadn't done in a long time. And if I don't log in on a regular basis, then I'm going to get out of the loop for when LEs happen and then slowly lose that which I liked most: talking to some big Character in the Matrix played by some crazy man. Even if nothing good came out of it, it was always fun.

I do not, however, play MxO for some fancy clothing that my character can wear, nor do I play for the PvP, player event shenanigans, shiny perpetual trinkets, some re-textured gun, or to kill the same NPC type with the same tactic that we've had for years over and over again. I seem to be paying to browse and post on the forums as of late, and that only stays entertaining for so long :P

What I might do is follow Bayamos' advice and make a syntax alt, which will ofc be unranked, preventing him or the other ranked Mechs to have a battle or earn any points whatsoever, lol. Careful what you wish for.

What a great idea! Ruin things for other people. That's sure to get you in good standings with others!

Or, you could remain respectful to other players.

Community Redpill Rescue Leveling the Fastest? Re:Leveling the Fastest? eval 0 12/01/2008 21:46

So far the best success I've had is just finding a group of archive missions to run then running through them. 11.1.1 Zion's a good place to start, all talking unless I'm confused with another chapter. SOMEWHERE in that whole Halborn killing the Oracle mess.

You can also get a lowbie quite a bit of XP if a bunch of other players are killing NPCs above their (the level 50s) levels. For instance if a 50 kills a 55 or so, that's quite a bit of XP for the lowbie. So, a team of 6 people or so farming sleepwalker boxes for just one lowbie can rack up XP faster than missioning. But, that's time consuming and requires a large number of people.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Balance Out PvP - Hypers Related Re:Balance Out PvP eval 0 12/01/2008 20:34

That would be a good idea to have two hypers activated at one time. Perhaps the system doesn't detect having two loaded at a time for whatever reason, so maybe it could be made to with the theme of "Armored" and "Shielded" to where a player can have either Hyper Block or Hyper dodge active, and as for their other hyper they can have either Hyper Deflect or Hyper sense. Not sure if that was already said in this thread, so just throwing it out there. (I probably already posted in this thread but can't remember, so whatever.)

A smaller number of people can and will defeat a larger group of people time and time again as long as the smaller group is diversified in their attacks, have the support of debuffing hackers and/or a healer, and are just over-all more organized and communicative. And of course, there's "under-handed" tactics like hit-and-run, "omg heals" and so on.

Don't tell me that even the LE section itself will be abandoned?!

I'm sure the meetings and the LEs that still happen (though no longer daily) will get posted in that section.

Regardless of my stats or clothes, I still only get 2 per tick in combat, 5 out of combat.

I did a stat hack last night, didn't use any of the points, went into combat, naked, and it did 2 per tick (as expected.) Then I used hacker stats, used WMs, Sakura, Seraphims and a Dragonskin, and only got 2 IS per tick in combat. Even the negative bonus from sleepwalker stuff isn't making any difference.

Sounds about right. Even with IS regen clothes, that combat state takes a big chunk out of your IS regen rate. Wearing IS regen clothes I could get to 6.2 out of combat and 3.3 in combat. That doesn't sound like a bug that you have there, it's how it's been for as long as I can remember.

That's probably from the stun of Pistol Aerial, seems to cause problems some of the time for the people in interlock to just stand there then roll out 4 seconds later.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Re: Level requirements for storyline missions Re:Attn: Rarebit Re: Level requirements for storyline missions eval 0 11/25/2008 17:15

That is indeed a bit of a problem. Hmmm... What if the level requirement were just taken out of it? Would that be fine in your opinion?

A thought that occured was if the missions that dealt with the storyline content were just there to simply convey the story to whoever wanted to go through them with a non-tradeable (Or heck, tradeable) item that would fit that organization; or it could just give a mission completion token that you need to turn in for whatever items with your collector.

Then, if the current trend is kept up where you have to farm NPCs for items that spawn during the missions to get items, they could make it to where the NPCs for the "Story missions" don't really drop the all/any of the items needed to turn into the collector, and instead make mission tickets that focus on just having the NPCs spawn on you to attack you that perhaps like special holiday/anniversary mission tickets could give you a consumable that's helpful if you choose to complete them. Those NPC-spawn missions would hold no new information related to the story that you couldn't get from the Story missions, but would be used by higher levels to farm their higher level gear.

What do you think about that?
