I'd be also interested on hearing what SOE's stance will be on us archiving all this stuff and making it available and would also be very willing to host a copy of the forums, even if I have to archive it myself I'll try and do it (god know's how long it will take though and wouldn't be 100% unless they closed the forums for a week so there's no new posts, although I'd hate to see that)

Heh, I was a one of the original LESIG (and was quite shocked by it as well) but after all the big hoohar and it move to v2 I lost a lot of my free time and wasn't a big part of it any more for a long time. Most of my parts were all small ones so no one will remember them I doubt, things such as Pvt Jackson from the commando's event, the odd bluepill, the odd cypherite here and there when needed and other really small characters. Have to say being in LESIG was one of the best times I had in MxO and breathed a whole new life into the game world for me so thanks to everyone for making it feel like that. Jeffers

Some idiot called Jeffers is wandering these forums for a month for whatever reason. Most likely it is still a port is being blocked by the campus network. MxO needs TCP ports 80, 5190, 11000, and 10000 and UDP ports 10000 and 11000. WoW on the otherhand needs 3724, 6112, and 6881-6999. Jeffers

RAREBIT! LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!!! I have to say, I think this will probably one of the most expensive forum threads EVER! But, to say a thank you for everything you've done for the game, for making it better and for putting up with us lot, it's worth it. Without what you've done I don't think I would have played for as long as I did and still wouldn't keep working on the little random things I do. It's a really sad day for mxo reading this. But, I have to say it has been an absolute PLEASURE to work with you on different projects. Take care and feel free to drop by our forum any time! (meaning http://www.fallenhorizon.org/forums ) All the best Rarebit and good luck for the future!

Hey there.
When you registered the account, did you also enter billing info for the subscription? If not then that will be why it is currently disabled. SOE requires you to enter billing info to confirm the subscription, there is nothing to stop you from cancelling it again as soon as you've entered it though.

Run an antivirus scan, run a chkdsk on the drive as well.
Might also be worth going to run and typing "sfc /scannow" and let that run through and see if it changes anything.
Other then that, probably a repair install like flecky said would be my next step.

Ahhh patch error 47!
Looking at your screenshot, you have Norton Internet Security installed, the most likely cause of the problem is then that Norton hasn't updated the firewall rule to allow MxO access to the internet again. Normally you should get a popup asking if you want to allow this program access to the internet.
If you open up Norton Internet Security and go to the firewall configuration and then the program rules. If you scroll down the list of programs you should come across one for launcher.exe and it is problably set to deny. Change it to allow, reload MxO and you should be away.

Under Monolith, the server status worked, ever since SOE took over, on the migrated DN1 and the new one they designed, the server status has always just been static text.
So Telemancer, you're right. It is fake, unless the servers are open in which case it is true.

So when you type /ccr in game you get the following webpage load up in game: http://support.station.sony.com/petition
Now I can't remember off the top of my head if it goes directly to the In-Game support tab or not, if it doesn't then click this.
The game should already be selected for you, along with various details such as your character name and server ect.
To report someone for a specific violation, where it says category, if you choose conduct violation another drop down box should appear underneath. In that one you can then choose various other categories such as Harassment, Name Violation, Hacks/Exploits ect so if you choose the most appropriate one to what you want to file, hopefully that answers your question.

Or if you haven't got it sorted yet and still have the error, try jumping on live chat at http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...nduser/live.php providing it is still open and they should be able to fix it.
If it has closed you could also try ingame support at http://support.station.sony.com/petition and they should also be able to help.

I need more information because I don't have any details of what patch error -4 is.
If you load the launcher again and then wait until you get the error. When you do, close the launcher and go to the directory the game is installed in. In there you will find a file called launchererrors.txt and a file called patchctrl.log.
Could you post the contents of launchererrors.txt and the end of patchctrl.log and we'll get a better idea of what the error is.

Anyway, Maplin's seem to have a lot of these sorts of things and if I remember rightly PC World stocks one type as well but don't quote me on that. I just took a quick look on Froogle to see what came up. They are supposed to help a lot though.

Whether you use Firefox or not, the Launcher still uses Internet Explorer for it's patch server calls.
Therefore if Internet Explorer is set to Work Offline, the launcher won't be able to connect to the patch server.

If so, then might be best to fill out an in-game support ticket and ask whats going on.

Instead of write clicking on the launcher.exe file, go up one directory and right click on it and select properties. Then try unticking the Read Only box shown there. If prompted apply it to all files and subdirectories and click ok.
If that still doesn't work, the in the game folder make sure that there is a folder called p_dlls present. If it isn't then ti can't construct the files necessary to load the launcher.

If you entered a code of a game box then the most likely requirement it is missing is a payment method to validate the account and activate the free 30 days. However since the issue with the first trial where entering details cancelled out the 7 day trial I'm a bit wary about suggesting it.
The fact that it is a 30 day trial though makes me fairly certain that it does require a payment method to be entered, to be absolutely sure though contact customer support at http://support.station.sony.com and see what they say. You'll probably have to wait until Monday for a response now though (unless you've already got it sorted of course!)

TBH Roukan I'm not sure where else to head with why it has started doing it.
All the obvious things I can think of you've discounted, if no drivers have changed and nothing else has changed then I don't know what else to suggets. The last thing I thought of might have been a routing issue, but since the tracert came back ok that kinda rules that out as well. You could possibly try doing it for whichever server before you load the game (so recursion.thematrixonline.com for example) and see what the result is. Still doesn't rally explain why every character everytime takes a long time to load.
I'll keep thinking though.
Sorry,

If Monolith still had it and it was still alive (as the lack of solid ever present content, as other people have said, it would quite possibly have been abandoned the way it was heading) then I would have thought live events would have been going strong, as big, interesting, exciting and involving as many people as ever. Like others have said, there was little time that characters were online. Even if they were just on AIM because I remember getting some conversations out of some of the characters just across that.
What else would I have thought might happen under Monolith:
More game rendered cinematics (a hope I would have had, not set in fact) 2/3 New ability trees. Pandoras Box. Potentially new constructs. Additional storage in the form of a bank (Initial work started if I remember rightly). Something akin to CR2 developed. More puzzles linked in with the various game elements such as the sentinel, Billboards (no more bloody Ad Space for Rent signs everywhere!!!!!!!), external emails etc. MarketPlace Revamp. Revamp of other UI parts. Possibility of an In-Game email system, although I don't think one was originally planned under Monolith.
Anyway, random ideas, but the Devs seem to be pushing for as much as possible still so I'm quite happy. A bank though would still be a fantastic improvement to the game though. **hint hint**

What's your Internet Explorer settings like at the moment?
You could try going to Tools -> Internet Options, Security and just try resetting all the zones to Default unless there is a good reason for one of them being changed from default.
Also, just try doing the following command in a command prompt (start -> run and type cmd) and see what happens:
tracert auth.station.sony.com

I very much doubt copying the client to a different folder will work since the game checks to see whether the client is running. The only way I know of getting two clients to run simultaneously is to have the clone switch activated.
Could be wrong though and it may be worth giving it a go. I'd be interested to know if it does work though.

Yeah, like Hl3w says, it will be listed under keybindings in the options menu if it has been remapped. There should also be the option to default it back to the original layout.
If that doesn't work then post back and we'll have to start looking at the profile folder on your computer.

Should post it in Tech Support!
Anyway, for some random reason I used to get this when I had 1000's of screenshots in my Game folder. That could have just been coincidence though.
Could try archiving your screenshots and see if the issue still occurs, also try defragging your computer and see if that helps the issue.
Other possibilities are a large number of programs running in the background, so see if there are any you can shutdown while playing. You'll normally notice them in the bottom right hand corner by the clock.
Additionally, check that your firewall is allowing access to the internet launcher.exe and matrix.exe (which it should be considering that you can play) on the ports listed in Up to date port information for those with super tight firewalls (like me) by Phi.
Also, what resolution are you running the game at?

My buddy FlamingNinja007 played this game from like december of 2006 to Feburary of 2007, and he stopped playing because his amount of RAM was too small. So he got more RAM, and now he is trying to return to the game, but he deleted it off his computer. So, at first, he forgot his password so he had a new one emailed to him. Then, I told him to download this game off of http://www.thematrixonline.station....ony.com/jackin/. He did this and the download was successful, but every time he tries to sign in, (on his launcher) his "Client version" came up as "vunknown". Also, no text showed below this, keeping him from signing in to MxO. So, I told him to download the Station Launcher, which he did, and tried to download the game from there. He said that the way he was doing it needed a registration key, which he apparently already used. His disc isn't working so he couldn't use that. Anyway, he then clicked something under MxO on the Station Launcher called "Try". This, apparently allowed him to start downloading the game. I don't know what he did, as I do not use the Station Launcher. The download time for the game came up as almost 3 hours, and it never changed, he said. So, what should he do? That means there is a connection issue. I think I got something similar when I had zonealarm because it would be blocking the connection but wouldn't be displaying the message asking if I wanted to allow launcher.exe access to the internet.
If you get your friend to check his firewall and add rules, or if they already exist delete them and create new ones, to allow launcher.exe and matrix.exe full access to the internet then your friend should be able to get on without problem and the game will start patching.
The other thing to check is that Internet Explorer isn't set to work offline, although that normally pop's up a message after a while asking if you want to keep trying or not.

Hmmm, I lost the info I was looking at in the other file.
Could you run the launcher again and let it patch and then when it comes up with the Patch Error 48, close the launcher again and then paste the end of the patchctl.log file as you did in the previous post.
Then I can compare the two.
Cheers,

Could you just open up the patchctl.log file again and just post the last few lines where it says it's failed.
I'm interested to know whether it's moved on to downloading a new file or not.
I'll try and work on a botch job solution tomorrow for you when I get chance anyway though in case we can't get it to work properly.
